counties reported here reached 9.426.

of eastern Illinois resigned today in
the face of impending impeachment
proceedings.

pointed to prosecute him for a meet
ing to arrange plans for his trial
before the senate on November 10th

Old Tomps prison was under a heavy
guard of patrolmen armed with
rifles today as the result of an at
tempte djail break in which four men
were killed and three seriously in
jured.
Three prisoners séarted the at
tempted break yesterday that threw
hundreds of other prisoners into near
panic and brought three hundred po
liceman to battle with them in a riot
call,
The police say there have Vbeen sev
eral attempts at jail deliveries since
the Baumes law, providing for extra
heavy sentences for old offenders,
went into effect, but this was one
of the mgot spectacular in the city’s
history.

Mrs. T. F. Biving, wife of Dr. T.
F. Bivins, of Vienna, killed herself
about nine o’clock this morning at
the family home. She used 'a pistol
and fired the shot when other mem
bers of tte family were unaware
of er intentions, Death followed al
most instantly.
She has been in ill health for a long
time and has spent a great deal of
time of late in hospitals where an
effort was made to regair; normal
health.

died yesterday in an Atlanta hospital

Avenue here this morning and the
remains were taken to Oglethorpe for

attended by the Crisp Volunteers as
an honorary escort, There were
many pretty flowers from friends
