City. Vandals crashed their way in
to the editorial rooms om II Nuovo
Mondo, and II Martello, Italian an
ti-fascist newspapers, in the same
[block on East Tenth street, did con
siderable damage, beat up a watch
l man and pressman and made a clean
| get-away.
| Frank Bellanca, editor II Nuovo
! Mondo, and Carlo Tresco, editor of
1 IT Martello, were in accord in laying
the damage to fascist sympathizers.
They charged that the vandalism
was in direct reprisal for the at
tempt made by a youth on the life of |
Premier Mussolini last Sunday. ‘
- Bellanca said that shortly ~after‘
midnight Monday, 10 men leaped out
of two automobiles and forced their
way into the press room of II Nuovo
Mondo. George Protz, watchman,’
and Michael Slotz, - a pressman,
tried to halt the men but were se-l
verely beaten. Their cries frighten-l
ed off their assailants but the latter
returned several hours later. This
time there were no one in the
