‘At a meeting of the board of di--
‘réetors of the railroad, held here

to submit the question of extending
the company's lines to the stock
holders, with the recommendation
th'at it be done. Tiis was almost
cquivalent to the authorization of
such steps as are necessary to con
s:t.z‘uct the link between Spartahburg
and Gastonia, and also a link in
Nprth Carolina.

ern railroad and will start at 2

TO CELEBRATE 100

In scventeen southern states south
ern Baptists have 117 schools of all
grades, in which are enrolled 50,000
students, and which have property
and equipment valued at $35,000.-
900 and endowments to the amount
of of $18,000,000, J. W. Commack,
corresponding secretary of the
Southern Baptist education board,
declared here Monday night at the
Georgia Baptist Convention meet
ing.

Included in the Southern Baptist
schools, Mr. Cammack said, are 32
four year colleges, 28 junior col
leges, and 58 academies and pre
paratory schools. Mississippi Col
lege for Women, Hattishurg, Miss.,
and Baylor Womans College Belton,
Texas, were on December 1 admitted
to the four-year college standard

lines, giving a continuous electric
system from Durham to Greenwood.
The proposed outlay will involve the
ependiture of between $15,000,000
and $20,000,000 in the event the
stockholders decide to extend both

ty and had lived in Statesboro
avout thirty-five vears, where he

!Mr. Franklin was one of States
