THE CORDELE DISPATCH
'HARVEY DENIES SAYING :
' COOLIDGE WILL MAKE RACE
TG B
PARIS, December 24—(#)—Col.
Gecrge Harvey today said that he
was incorrectly quoted yesterday in
an interview in the Paris edition of
The New York Herald-Tribune, in
which he was represented ah saving
said that President Coolidge had
told him he would run again for the
presidency -in 1928 if the republican
national organization and the voters
wanted him to.
The former ambassador to Great
Britain declaredth at he had merely
expressed his personal opinion that
the president would be a candidate
again under those conditions—an
opinion which he expressed just be
fore sailing‘ from America.
. “If the American people want
President Coolidge to continue as
preéident,” Colonel Harvey said to--
day, “the republican party is bound
to renominate him. MNothing he
could say would affect that happen
ing one way or the other and his on
ly conceivable course, if nominated,
would be to accept. He could neither
seek nor decline the renomination
for personal reasons without rever
sing his ihvarying policy from the
diy he entered public service.”
