rGREATEST STORY FILMED
The greatest novel ever written of
‘Southetn California, with the gor
geous backgrounds of mountains and
ocean, has been transpcsed to tne
screen in “The Keeper of the Bees”
Gene Strattén Porter’s mcst recent
work which appeared serially in
McCall's Magazine. Doubleday Page
l & Co., have just put the book on the
market, and the publisher estimate
that more than ten million persons
have already found the story as fas
cinating as only a novel by the late
Mrs. Porter could be. In addition to
its tremendous popularity, “The
‘Keeper of the Bees” has as one of
its stars an eleven year old girl who
“has never before been seen in pic
tures, and who probably never will
4be again, despite the fact that she is
bound to make a tremendous hit.
Gene Stratton Monroe, granddaugh
ter of the noted novelist, enacts the
part of “Little Scout;” the rcle which
inspired her celebrated grandmoth
er to write the story originally. So
when she “‘steals” the picture from
more experienced members of a fine
cast, it is only proper: for “The
Keeper of the Bees” is her property
anyway! The produetion which has
been ably directed for F. B. O, by
J. Leo Meehan, who will be remem
bered for his fine work in trans- |
