Yulee was just what the
doctor ordered for the Wild
cat boys.
Mercilessly attacking the
rim all night long, Camden
County got 36 points from
Sam Daniel and put four in
double figures to snack on
the visiting Hornets, 102-69.
While the triple-digit blitz
got the crowd’s attention,
CCHS head coach Ty Ran
dolph looked at the other end
of the court.
“I think the biggest thing
was the intensity level on de
fense,” said Randolph, whose
team took full advantage of
the brief respite from region
play “We’ve been struggling,
hungry for a win.”
Camden scored the game’s
first 10 points, powered the
lead to 37 in the third quar
ter, and answered a flurry of
Hornet three-pointers with a
3 3-point fourth to surpass
the century mark.
Keyshaun Street, who had
19 points for CCHS, opened
the floodgates with a coast-
to-coast layup and Daniel —
15-of-21 from the floor with
two threes, and 5-of-6 from
the line — spent the rest of
the night ruling the paint.
The Wildcats’ leading scorer
was in double figures five
minutes after tipoff, and
poured in 22 of his game
leading total in the first half.
He also had 13 rebounds,
seven assists, three steals and
two blocked shots.
Street hit all seven of his
field goal tries and was 5-for-
6 from the line too, to go
with three boards. T.J.
Drummond missed just one
of his seven attempts from
the floor whole scoring 12
and contributing two steals
and two assists. The winners
also got 11 points, five assists,
three rebounds and two steals
from Kevin McKenzie; nine
points from Landon Dray
ton; six from Antonio King-
Hughes; and five plus a
three-pointer from Tarel
Grant.
“Once you create that type
of pressure,” Randolph said,
“it gives you opportunities to
make plays.”
After falling behind big
early, Yulee went almost ex
clusively from the perimeter.
YHS canned nine three-
pointers, including five in the
second half from reserve
Dalton Bradley, who
matched Randy Clark for
Hornet scoring honors with
17. Clark dropped three treys
and Breonne Albertie two in
a 13-point effort off the
bench.
Getting good look after
good look, Camden took a
54-26 lead to the intermis
sion on a Daniel throwdown.
After the margin reached
nearly 40 in the third, CCHS
watched it shrivel almost in
half as Bradley and his mates
started bombing away. Six
threes in the quarter — in
cluding Clark’s off-balance,
buzzer-beating heave — cut
the deficit to 69-50 entering
the fourth.
That would be as close as
the visitors would get, Cam
den forcing 23 turnovers —
and snatching 13 steals — to
upgrade to 6-13.
Camden hit the floor with
a sense of purpose, as four of
the starting five scored in the
first two minutes. The ’Cats
led by as many as 21 in the
first quarter — after which
they led, 27-8 — and by as
many as 30 in the second.
With the regular-season
schedule inching toward the
end, Randolph believes the
region hasn’t seen the Wild
cats at peak form. Colquitt
comes to Camden tonight,
and the Wildcats visit Tift on
Saturday
“These last six games, I’m
looking for chemistry,” he
said. “I think our best basket
ball is yet to come.”

Three double-figure
scorers plus a quarter-long
shutout performance on
defense Tuesday lifted the
Camden County boys jun
ior varsity cagers to a 52-
25 whipping of Yulee.
A close game became a
rout after the Wildcats,
ahead just 21-15 at half
time, put on a 15-0 show
in the third period and
continued the momentum
in the fourth.
For the winners, Chris
Williams topped all scor
ers with 12 points, team
mate Tyler Bohannon
added 11 and Quan Byrd
canned two three-pointers
and finished with 10 points
— eight in the second half.
Devin Morgan came off
the bench for seven points,
and Jaylen Dixon struck
for four, all in the first
quarter.
Ty Wilson paced Yulee
with nine points and a
three-pointer, and Garrett
Gagnon was next with six
points.
Camden led by as many
as nine in the first quarter
and enjoyed a 13-10 edge
going to the second behind
five Bohannon points.
Coming out of halftime,
the romp was on after
Williams and Bohannon
dropped four points each
in the third and Byrd and
Tre Cohn buried threes for
an insurmountable 36-15
advantage.
Camden led by as many
as 28 in the final minutes.
