The Camden-Kings Bay Council of the Navy League of the United States will hold a dinner and dessert auction fundraiser
at 6 p.m.Thursday, Feb. 14. Dinner tickets are $25 a person and reservations should be made by Monday, Feb. 11.
Sea cadets offer dinner, desserts
The Camden-Kings Bay
Council of the Navy League
of the United States will host
its first event of 2013: a din
ner and a dessert auction to
benefit the Kings Bay Divi
sion of the U.S. Naval Sea
Cadet Corps.
The Naval Sea Cadet
Corps provides American
youth with a drug and alco
hol free environment to fos
ter their leadership abilities,
broaden their horizons
through hands-on training
and guide them to becoming
mature young adults.
Support of youth pro
grams is one of the four cor
nerstones of the Navy
League, and the Camden-
Kings Bay Council has com
mitted to at least one major
annual fundraiser for the
local Sea Cadet unit.
The event will begin at 6
p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14,
Valentine’s Day, at the Kings
Bay Conference Center, with
dinner followed by an auc
tion of desserts baked and
donated by council mem
bers.
Sea Cadets and their fami
lies are invited as well as the
general public. Everyone is
encouraged to donate a
dessert for the auction.
In addition to the dessert

auction, there will be a raffle
for prizes, including a special
“lovers getaway” at the
Spencer House Inn in St.
Marys, and other door prize
baskets such as “popcorn and
a movie” and others. One
does not have to be present
to win.
All proceeds will help de
fray the cost of training,
travel, drills and other ex
penses of local Sea Cadets.
Members and interested per
sons who cannot attend the
meeting can still help the
council meet its goal of fi
nancially supporting the Sea
Cadets by sending a tax-de
ductible contribution to:
Cheryl Aston, 103 Hall owes
Drive South, St. Marys, GA
31558. Checks should be
made payable to the Cam
den-Kings Bay Navy League
with “Sea Cadets” written on
the memo line.
Those who wish to pur
chase raffle tickets should
contact Aston at (912) 882-
2967.
Attendees must register
and pay in advance for the
dinner and dessert auction.
The cost of the dinner is $25
per person, with a reserva
tion deadline on Monday,
Feb. 11. One should mail the
names of all attendees in
one’s group, along with one’s
check in the proper amount
(made payable to “Camden-
Kings Bay Navy League”) to
Aston.
Those who plan to bring a
dessert for the auction are
asked to email their name,
the name of the dessert, a
brief description and the
number of servings to
teacherl@tds.net. Any ques
tions about the dessert auc
tion may be included in the
email.
More information is avail
able on the council website
at kingsbaynavyleague.org/.
