The Veterans of Foreign
Wars (VFW) Post 8385 in
Kingsland recently hosted
Korean War veterans for
breakfast to commemorate
the 60th anniversary of the
Armistice of the Korean
War.
Attendance of the event
was more than 30 people
who honored the six local
Korean War veterans.
VFW Post 8385 Cmdr.
Sean B. Farrell Sr. said,
“Today, we pause to ob
serve the 60th anniversary
of the end of the Korean
War, a conflict that defined
a generation and decided
the fate of a nation. These
men before you answered
the call to duty to push the
Communist forces back
north to the 38th Parallel
where the border still is
today. So, as we mark this
milestone, let us offer a
special salute to our Korean
War veterans.”
At this point, Farrell ren
dered a salute to the veter
ans, encouraging the audi
ence to follow suit, which
led to a standing ovation
for the men.
He further said, “Let us
renew the sacred trust we
share with all who have
served, and let us reaffirm
that, no matter what the fu
ture holds, America will al
ways honor its promise to
serve our veterans as well as
they served us — now and
forever.
Prior to the conclusion of
the ceremony, Farrell led
the attendees in the pledge
of allegiance.
