It is a show that will be enjoyed as much by
a 63-year-old as a 5-year-old. The main character
roles are played by adults with four
children joining the cast.
St. Marys Little Theatre
will debut its third season
with “You’re a Good Man,
Charlie Brown.”
Performances will be held
at 7 p.m. Friday and Satur
day, Sept. 13 and 14, and
Sept. 20 and 21, and at 2
p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at
Theatre by the Trax, located
at 1000 Osborne Road in St.
Marys.
The musical is based on
characters by cartoonist
Charles M. Schulz in his
comic strip, “Peanuts,” a car
toon that has inspired many
television specials and stage
productions.
When choosing an open
ing show for St. Marys Little
Theatre’s (SMLT) third sea
son, SMLT chair Barbara
Ryan was looking for a pro
duction that would engage
people of all ages. The Tony-
award winning “Charlie
Brown” filled the bill.
“It is a show that will be
enjoyed as much by a 63-
year-old as a 5-year-old,”
Ryan said. “The main char
acter roles are played by
adults with four children
joining the cast.”
Ryan said that Snoopy,
played by SMLT veteran J.
Steven Jones, will charm au
diences with his audacious
attitude and entertaining
songs.
“SMLT music director
Megan Friese-Kaufman of
Friese Studio of Music is as
sembling and leading the or
chestra,” Ryan said, a theatre
luxury that SMLT has not
had since its opening pro
duction, “Man of La Man
cha.”
As St. Marys Little The
atre enters its third season,
audiences will appreciate the
new air conditioning (AC)
system installed in the audi
ence area. Phase I of the new
AC system was underwritten
by generous community pa
trons and Turner Brothers;
all comprise the Giving Tree
that can be seen in the lobby
of Theatre by the Trax.
“We are so fortunate to
have a facility like Theatre
by the Trax as our home per
formance venue,” said L.J.
Williams, vice chair of St.
Marys Little Theatre. “The
building is ever evolving and
improving and visitors who
come to town representing
