in separate incidents

A Kingsland man was ar
rested on three felony
charges of false imprison
ment and four counts of sex
ual battery after allegedly
cornering and inappropri
ately touching three co
workers at a local hotel.
According to warrants,
Michael Earl Clark, 38, was
arrested on Nov. 6 after he
allegedly encountered each
victim, all housekeeping em
ployees at the hotel, sepa
rately during recent months.
The first victim claimed
that when she asked for
Clark’s help changing light
bulbs in the bathroom, Clark
allegedly started touching
her breasts from behind and
put his hands down her
pants, despite her repeated
commands to stop. When
Clark did stop the behavior,
he allegedly apologized and
asked if the victim was all
right.
During an interview, Clark
admitted to flirting and jok
ing with each victim and said
he knew he was cheating on
his wife with each of them.
He told police that he
wanted to have an affair with
the first victim, who he said
had called him to rooms she
was cleaning several times to
perform maintenance tasks.
He also acknowledged
touching the first victim in
appropriately as she de
scribed.
The second alleged victim
told officers that sometime
around Aug. 22 Clark began
to “flick” her on the buttocks
with objects like curtain
rods, garbage bags or key
necklaces. Then, on Sept. 26,
Clark allegedly asked the vic
tim if he could pick her up
and put her over his shoul
der. After she said no, the
victim said Clark came to a
room she was cleaning, cor
nered her, tried to put his
hand up her skirt and even
tually picked her up, slapping
her buttocks before putting
her down.
During an interview, Clark
told police that he never
touched the second victim
except to pick her up once or
twice. He said that, while he
may have touched her but
tocks as he was putting her
down, he never slapped her.
The third victim recalled
two separate alleged inci
dents on Sept. 7, when Clark
inappropriately touched her.
The first incident allegedly
occurred when the victim
was in the pantry with the
door closed when Clark
walked in. While she was
leaning over the counter, the
victim said that Clark stood
behind her and put his hands
on her hips and began to
touch her breasts and groin
area over her clothes. When
a guest knocked on the door,
she was able to get away and
continue her job in the din
ing room, she told police.
Later that day, Clark al
legedly came into the pantry
again and started rubbing the
same victim’s shoulders and
kissing her neck before
touching her breasts under
neath her shirt. The victim
said that after she repeatedly
tried to escape and told
Clark to stop, she bent for
ward and hit her head against
the countertop. Clark al
legedly stopped to ask if she
was all right, which allowed
her to escape. The victim
said that it was during this
incident she was afraid for
the first time because she
couldn’t get Clark off of her
and no one knew where she
was.
