EPITAPH
I brought nothing in to this world,
And I am taking nothing out
Except my Savior’s love,
Which has been with me throughout.
I am now with the angels above
While you are still at trial.
My time release has come,
As you live your earthly while.
If I could give you counsel,
This is what I’d say:
Open your heart to God,
Learn to walk his way.
Count your treasures in kindness
Give beyond any bound.
Hoard humility with a blindness
To pride that’s all around.
Think not of what you can take,
Or whom you would like to fight.
Peace is yours to make.
God will keep the score right.
Be brave in your example,
Cover not your heart that’s pure.
The swine can never trample
A Christian who is sure.
Fear not when your path is hard,
Or things just don’t seem clear.
Have patience, pray, and listen,
For God is ever near.
Forgive, and you’ll be forgiven.
Ask, and you will receive.
Thank God, and you’ll be thanked.
Have faith, and you’ll believe.
You brought nothing into this world,
And you will take nothing out
Except the love you leave behind;
That’s what it’s all about.
