The Camden County Joint De
velopment Authority (JDA) will
hold a called meeting at 9 a.m.
Monday, Dec. 30, at the county
annex building on Gross Road in
Kingsland behind the public li
brary. This meeting will be to dis
cuss retaining a professional
recruiter for the JDA executive di
rector position.
Tuesday, December 31
All post offices in Camden
County will close at noon on New
Year's Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 31. All
post offices in Camden County
will be closed New Year's Day.
Normal services will resume on
Thursday, Jan. 2.
Wednesday, January 1
The public is invited to an
Emancipation Proclamation wor
ship service on Wednesday Jan.
1, at Greater Trinity United
Methodist Church. The time will
be 11 a.m. The keynote speaker
will be Rev. Michael H.L. Rober
son Sr. of St. John's Missionary
Baptist Church. The host pastor
will be Rev. Eddie Connaway.
Greater Trinity is located at 900
Osborne St. in St. Marys.

Camden Newcomers Club will
hold its monthly luncheon meet
ing at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan.
2, at Laurel Island Links Restau
rant, located at 233 Marsh Har
bour Parkway in Kingsland. Linda
Bevin, who is a volunteer ambas
sador for Road Scholar, will speak
to the group about travel options.
The cost for lunch is $16 and in
cludes entree, beverage and
dessert. Payment should be
made by check or cash on the
day of the event. Reservations
must be made in advance no later
than noon on Monday, Dec. 30, by

Evergreen Missionary Baptist
Church will host a youth empow
erment seminar titled "Redeem
ing the Next Generation" on
Saturday, Jan. 4. The time will be
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The seminar is
for those 7 to 19 years of age.
Topics will include the following:
"Straight Talk," by the Camden
County Sheriff's Department on
drug and alcohol abuse, violence,
guns, gangs, meth labs and
more. This is for all ages. "Point
ing You in the Right Direction," an
education and career advise
ment, will be presented by
Clainetta Jefferson, school liai
son officer of Kings Bay Naval
Submarine Base. Session one is
for ages 13 to 19 and session two
is for ages 7 to 12. "Healthful Liv
ing" will be presented by Dr. An
drea Norwood of Kings Bay
Pediatrics. Her subject will be
health and wellness - good
touch/bad touch, for ages 7 to 12.
"Protecting Yourself" is for ages
13 to 19 on health, wellness, sex
ual abuse and STDs. It will be
presented by Senior Chief Ken
neth McNeil of the Preventive
Medicine Department at Kings
Bay Naval Submarine Base. “Fit-
ting-ln” is for all ages. It will cover
the dangers of social media, peer
pressure, bullying and more. It
will be presented by Calvin Bell,
Camden County School resource

Tuesday, January 7
Free Zumba classes for St.
Marys seniors 55 and older will
resume on Tuesday and Thurs
day, from 6:45-7:45 p.m., on Tues
day, Jan. 7. These classes are
sponsored by the St. Marys Hos
pital Authority. Those who do not
live in St. Marys or are younger
than 55 are welcome to attend for
a small fee. Registration forms
can be obtained at Fiesta Fitness,

Camden County Wildcats Class
of 1971-1981 will meet at 3 p.m.

The newly formed Southeast
Georgia Quilter's Guild will meet
at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the
Camden Community Recreation
Center. The recreation center is
located at 1050 Wildcat Drive in
Kingsland. The purpose of the
quilter's guild is to further the art
of quilting through participation,
education and promotion. Those
who love to quilt who wish to
share their passion for quilting
and learn new methods are in

A free Living Well Coastal
Workshop will be held from 9:30
a.m.-noon Thursdays starting
Jan. 23, and running through Feb.
