Vector conducts test launch

Although Spaceport Camden is still
just a concept, Vector Space Systems
plans to conduct a low-altitude test
at the site of the proposed commer
cial spaceport early this morning. The
launch window will be from 8-11 a.m.,
according to county officials.
If it reaches about 5,000 feet, spec
tators should be able to catch a quick
glimpse of the launch vehicle from long
range, such as Crooked River State Park
to the south or Jekyll Island Sound to
the north.
Since the test will use a markedly
smaller vehicle than those launched at
Cape Canaveral, Fla., it will be quieter
and harder to see than what many NASA
visitors associate with a rocket launch.

says goodbye
to military life

It wasn’t the sort of military retirement ceremony
you usually see. The guest of honor didn’t give a
speech. He didn’t thank anyone, shake any hands or
snap off any salutes.
As his shipmates talked
about his accomplish
ments, Tommy laid on
the floor looking bored,
probably wondering
when he would be eating
that retirement steak his
partner had long prom
ised.
Thank you for com
ing to “honor my buddy
Tommy,” Maritime Enforcement Specialist 1st Class
Jeffrey Fallon, Tommy’s longtime partner, told their
unit.

the work. I just held on
and enjoyed the ride.
