Obituaries
HULBIRT — Joseph C. Hul-
birt, 82, of St. Marys passed
away Monday, Dec. 18, in the
care of Hospice of the Golden
Isles. He was born in Sayre,
Pa., to Joseph and Madeline
Hulbirt.
Following service in the Air
Force, he began a career in
retailing: Dey Brothers, Syr
acuse, N.Y.; Rothschild’s,
Ithaca, N.Y.; Knollenbergs,
Richmond, Ind.; and The
Globe Store, Scranton, Pa.
He retired from The Globe
as vice president and general
merchandise manager.
In retirement, he worked at
the Scranton Country Club
Golf Course and Osprey Cove
Golf Course and was a volun
teer at Cumberland Island Na
tional Seashore.
He is survived by his wife,
Joyce; stepchildren, Deb
bie, Jim and Cindy and their
spouses; two stepgrandchil-
dren; and his sister, Marlowe
Killam and her family.
Graveside services will
be held in Scranton in the
spring.
BRANT — William Alvin
Brant, 72, of White Oak
passed away Friday morn
ing, Dec. 22, 2017, at his
residence after an extended
illness.
Born in Sylvania, his par
ents were William Leo Brant
and Selma Godbee Brant.
He was preceded in death by
his first wife, Sheila Edna Wil
liams Brant; his second wife,
Kathy Elaine Head Brant;
two sisters, Mildred Elizabeth
Steed and Beatrice Roberta
Williams; and a brother, David
Franklin Brant.
William was a heavy equip
ment operator for the Camden
County Board of Commission
ers and was a collector and an
avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his son
and daughter-in-law, Tony
Brant Elaina of Broxton;
three daughters and a son-in-
law, Terri Leanne McDonald
(Brian) of Screven, Christine
Cecilia Manbeck of Chiefland,
Fla., and Traci Manbeck of
Kingsland; 14 grandchildren;
14 great-grandchildren; a sis
ter, Carolyn Cannon; three
brothers and sisters-in-law,
Leo Brant (Diane) of Screven,
Lannie Brant (Janice) of White
Oak and Billy Brant (Lucille) of
Woodbine; and also several
nieces, nephews and other
relatives.
Visitation was held one hour
prior to the service from noon
to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec.
27, at Frye Funeral Home.
A funeral service was held
at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec.
27, at the chapel of Frye Fu
neral Home. Burial followed
in Oak Grove Cemetery in St.
Marys.
Pallbearers were Michael
Padgett, Scott McDonald,
Garrett Grant, Myron Kin,
Robert Brant, James Brant
and Russell Hatzke.
Arrangements are with Frye
Funeral Home in Nahunta.

CISCO — Chilton Cisco,
75, passed away Monday,
Dec. 18, in Jacksonville, Fla.
He was born Jan. 25, 1942,
in Mingo County, W.Va., to
the late Kearney Cisco and
Ethel Mounts Cisco.
He was preceded in death
by his wife, Carol Ann Well
man Cisco.
He is survived by his son,
Michael Cisco and his wife,
Kim; a sister, Priscilla Haney;
two brothers, Kearney Cisco
and Winfield Cisco; two grand
daughters, Alexis Cisco and
Tiffany Wilson; a great-grand
daughter, Chasity Cisco; and
a number of nieces, nephews
and other relatives.
Memorialization will be by
cremation. A memorial ser
vice was held at 2 p.m. Friday,
Dec. 22, in the Shepard-Rob-
erson Funeral Home Chapel.

HERRIN — Emily Jean
Rozier Herrin, 79, of King
sland passed away Thursday
morning, Dec. 21,2017, at her
residence after an extended
illness.
Born in Hickox, her parents
were Hubert W. Rozier and
Tedia Bell Howell Rozier. She
was also preceded in death by
several sisters.
Emily was a member of
Riverside Chapel Baptist
Church and was the manager
of Cumberland Village for 18
years. In her early years, she
helped her parents with their
motel and restaurant. She
also worked at Crooked River
State Park and was a Camden
County school bus driver for
six years. Emily loved fishing
and gardening.
Survivors include her hus
band, E.B. Herrin of King
sland; four children, Thomas
Herrin (Regay) of Gaines
ville, Fla., Aundrea Diaz of
Woodbine, Greg Herrin of
Orlando, Fla., and Christo
pher Wentworth of Kingsland;
eight grandchildren, Shannon
Herrin, Megan Clifton, Lena
Akes, Savannah Hill, Justin
Johnson, Amanda Crosby,
Crystal Wentworth and Emily
Diaz; many great grandchil
dren; and also several nieces,
nephews and other relatives.
Visitation was held for one
hour prior to the service start
ing at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec.
23, at Riverside Chapel Bap
tist Church.
A funeral service was held
at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23,
at Riverside Chapel Bap
tist Church with Rev. Randy
Wainright and Rev. Paul Rob
erson officiating. Burial fol
lowed in Smyrna Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Scott Hen
ning, John Braswell, James
Durden, Tye Crosby, James
Galloway and Skeeter. Hon
orary pallbearers were Keith
Brown, Kade Akes, Lucas
Crosby, Garrett Herrin and
Cody Herrin.

DUNLAP — Gary Brent
Dunlap, 76, of Kingsland died
Oct. 26, 2017, with his loving
family by his side.
A celebration gathering of
memorial for Mr. Dunlap will
be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Fri
day, Dec. 29, at Coastal Cam
den Funeral Home.

Home in Kingsland is in
charge of arrangements.
WHITE — Jannie Bell
White, 68, of the Kinlaw com
munity died on Sunday, Dec.
17, 2017, at Southeast Geor
gia Health System, Camden
Campus.
Funeral services will be held
at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30,
at Refreshing Oasis Church.
A wake will be held from 6 to
8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at the
church. Interment will be in
Kinlaw Cemetery.
Sunset Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.

County seeks DFACS board member
The Camden County
Board of Commissioners
is seeking applicants to fill
one vacancy on the Camden
County Board of Family and
Children Services (DFACS).
The board plays a vital
role in helping to make
the Division of Family and
Children Services’ programs
more meaningful to the
families and children they
are designed to serve. Board
members, with the help of
agency staff, acquire gen
eral knowledge of division
programs and interpret the
objectives of the programs
to local citizens.
Each board member
should also address attitudes
and perceptions of the com
munity toward programs by
making recommendations to
the county director. Board
members are also expected
to assist in interpreting
human service programs to
local officials in order to gain
support, secure additional
funding for specific needs
beyond state appropriations
and to set standards for the
expenditure of county funds.
Applicants must reside in
Camden County; must not
have any immediate fam
ily members on the staff
of the local DFACS office;
must not hold elected office;
must not receive public as
sistance; be able to actively
participate in the efforts of
the board; possess a combi
nation of advocacy, resource
development, political activ
ism, staff relations, customer
service and administrative
functions; and attend meet
ings held at 8:30 a.m. on the
third Tuesday of every other
month at the DFCS office in
Kingsland.

In the last nine months we have had many firsts without you.
There have been Birthdays, Thanksgiving, holidays and other
events. Now we are about to experience our first Christmas and
December 26th which would have been your 90th birthday. We
thank God for the 89 years He allowed you to walk this earth
and the family he placed you with. We miss you daily. We carry
the Love you instilled in us and we strive to continue your lega
cy. We still get condolences and expressions of sympathy from
the community. We did not know how many, many lives you
touched. We say THANK YOU to everyone in the community
for everything you have done from March when this great lady
passed and all that you continue to do. As we celebrate Christs
birth we celebrate and remember you too and carry precious
memories in our hearts.
