Clark County Jail offers inmates new hope
Anew program at the Clarke County Jail is giving inmates a chance to turn over a new leaf.
The Principles Over Passions educational program affords residents jailed in Clarke County
the opportunity to re new self confidence and self worth by teaching them new skills.
The program is 8 weeks long that is faith and character based. It helps inmates identify four
main negative character traits that have affected their lives and how to rectify those traits. It
ends with a graduation.
Savannah Police say they saw fewest number of arrests in years during St.
Patricks Day weekend
Savannah is breathing a sigh of relief after the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Mayor Van
Johnson says attendance numbers were more than 100,000 persons this year. Even with the
uptick, the police department has just 12 arrested in the festival zone.
It is believed by city officials that the low arrest totals can be attributed to the more family
friendly changes the city made to the annual event. More than l.kOOO parking citations were
handed out with 58 cars towed from the parade route.
Georgia Senate passes transgender bill
The Georgia Senate has passed a bill prohibiting transgender minors from accessing hor
mone replacement therapy and gender affirming surgery. The legislation allows exceptions
for puberty blockers and some medical conditions requiring homione replacement therapy
or surgery. The bill drew criticism from legislative Democrats, parents of transgender youth,
and medical societies.
Heavier trucks may soon be traveling roadways
A plan to boost the weight limits for trucks on Georgia highways is facing opposition in the
Georgia House. The bill would allow tmcks moving agricultural and forestry commodities
to carry up to 88,000 pounds. The limit on state rounds is currently 80,0000 pounds. The
higher limit would only be in effect until July 1, 2024. Heavier trucks wouldn’t be allowed
in 13 metro Atlanta counties and local law enforcement could write tickets for overweight
trucks. Now, only the state Motor Carrier Compliance Division can write tickets.

several people. Sutton has been identified as the primary aggressor.
Sutton had left the area and was eventually caught and taken into custody. He was taken

Reidsville mayor overrides police officer termination

job after a brief suspension. Reidsville Mayor Curtis Colwell, stepped in and required the

As Easter approaches, I am reminded of the sacrifice that Christ made for us on the cross.
If it wasn't for that sacrifice, we would all be lost and burdened with tremendous sin.
There is a T-Shirt that we carry in our Christian Supply store that says, "If you bring up my
past, you should know that Jesus dropped the charges." This shirt says it all. All to Jesus, All
to him I owe! What a wonderful gift and a tremendous message we have to share.
One of my favorite hymns that for this time of year is, "In Christ Alone." My favorite
verse says, "No guilt in life, no fear in death, this is the pow’r of Christ in me. From life’s
first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny." These words just sum it up for me. I
want these words to be my final words as I am layed to rest in Jesus. We should all use this
as our anthem.
Songwriter Stuart Townend grew up as the youngest of four children in a Christian family
in West Yorkshire, England, where his father was a vicar in the Church of England. The
Townend family always enjoyed music, and young Stuart began to play the piano at the age
of seven. Known and respected today by musicians and worship leaders throughout Britain
and beyond, his involvement in Christian music dates back over 10 years.
During this time, Townend has used his talents to produce albums for British-based wor
ship leaders as diverse as John Pantry, Keith Routledge, Sue Rinaldi, Vinesong and Praise
Gathering. As an artist, he has made two solo albums: Say the Word and Personal Worship.
But it is perhaps as a songwriter that Stuart has made his most enduring contribution to
the contemporary worship movement. Songs such as “How Deep the Father’s Love,” “My
First Love,” “The King of Love,” “Who Paints the Skies” and “Lord, How Majestic You
Are” are favorites in the repertoire of thousands of churches around the world. And now one
of his latest works, “In Christ Alone,” seems destined to take its place among other worship
classics both in the UK and in the United States.
Written in 2002, “In Christ Alone” was a collaborative effort between Townend and
fellow songwriter and good friend Keith Getty. “The song came about in an unusual way,”
Townend explains. “Keith and I met in the autumn of 2000 at a worship event, and we re
solved to try to work together on some songs.
A few weeks later Keith sent some melody
ideas, and the first one on the CD was a mag
nificent, haunting melody that I loved, and
immediately started writing down some lyri
cal ideas on what I felt should be a timeless
theme commensurate with the melody. So the
theme of the life, death, resurrection of Christ,
and the implications of that for us just began
to tumble out, and when we got together later
on to fine tune it, we felt we had encapsulated
what we wanted to say."
Sing or read with me, friends. May this be
your anthem this precious Easter season.
In Christ alone my hope is
found;
He is my light, my strength,
my song;
This cornerstone, this solid ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My comforter, my all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand.
In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev’ry sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live.
There in the ground His body lay,
Tight of the world by darkness slam;
Then bursting forth in glorious day,
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory,
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me;
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the pow’r of Christ in me;
From life’s first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow’r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the pow’r of Christ I’ll stand.
