New Jenkins County
educators were treated
to a tour of the local area
last Wednesday. “It was
rewarding to spend time
with the new teachers.
It was an exciting and
informative experience
for everyone involved.”
Chamber Director Mandy
Underwood said. Exploring
the community and learning
about Millen and its offerings
was a great way to introduce the
teachers to the area.
Having lunch at Round's
On Winthrope, sponsored by
Jenkins County Times and
Spring Creek Auction Company,
added to the enjoyment of the
day. “It's wonderful to see local
businesses coming together to
support educational initiatives
and welcome new faculty to
the community,” Underwood
continued.

“With this kind of community
involvement and support,
teachers and students alike will
undoubtedly feel welcomed
and valued in the area. Such
initiatives contribute to fostering
a positive and collaborative
environment for education and
growth,” said Dr. J.P. Hearn,
superintendent of schools.

Timing and rapid intervention
are crucial when dealing with
cardiac and stroke patients, as
every minute counts in saving
heart and brain tissue. Jenkins
County Medical
Center (JCMC)
seems to be
well-prepared
and equipped
to handle these
urgent cases. They
have a qualified
team that includes
providers, nurses,
CT technicians,
lab technicians,
and respiratory
therapists, all working together
to provide the best care possible
for their patients.
JCMC's readiness is evident in
the presence of EKG machines
and cardiac monitors in each
room, which allows them to
quickly identify changes in heart
rhythms that could indicate a
heart attack or acute myocardial
infarction. Additionally, having
a REACH cart for telemedicine
consults with neurologists at
Augusta University Medical
Center (AUMC) enables them
to electronically send CT
images for immediate review,
allowing for timely decisions on
administering clot-busting drugs
to stroke patients.
“Rural hospitals like JCMC
play a critical role in providing
medical services to their
communities. Without access

department, many patients in rural

It’s voter purge
time again
By Joe Brady, Editor

The Times
The state of Georgia
is conducting a round
of purging from its
voter list ahead of
next year's elections. A
total of 191,473 voters
who were previously
classified as "inactive" are set
to be removed from the rolls.
An inactive voter refers to
someone whose voter registration
information is outdated or who
hasn't participated in recent
elections.
To remove an inactive voter,
the county voter registration
office sends a notice by mail, and
if there is no response within 30
days, the voter's name will be
taken off the list. However, if
an inactive voter responds to the
mailed notice by updating their
registration information, they will
be allowed to remain on the voter
rolls. Jenkins County currently
has 126 inactive voters on the list.
Secretary of State Brad
Raffensperger stated that Georgia's
