Culture and climate are two distinct aspects of any
organization. Culture and climate in an organization play
crucial roles in shaping its overall environment and success.
Culture refers to the shared values, beliefs, norms, and
behaviors that exist within a workplace. It is the underlying
set of assumptions and expectations that guide the attitudes
and actions of employees. Culture can be influenced
by factors such as the organization's history, mission,
leadership style, and employee interactions. It shapes the
organization's identity, determines how work is done, and
influences employee behavior. A positive culture often
encourages open communication, innovation, and a strong
work ethic. This type of culture can lead to higher employee
satisfaction, increased productivity, and improved overall
performance. On the other hand, a negative culture can
be detrimental to the organization. It may involve toxic
behaviors, lack of transparency, excessive hierarchy, and
resistance to change. Such a culture can lead to low morale,
high turnover rates, and decreased productivity.
On the other hand, climate refers to the immediate
perception employees have of the organization's culture.
It is the overall atmosphere and mood experienced by
employees on a day-to-day basis. Climate is influenced
by factors such as the organization's physical environment,
leadership practices, communication patterns, and employee
interactions. A positive climate is characterized by trust,
respect, fairness, and a supportive work environment, while
a negative climate may involve fear, tension, and lack of
support.
Every organization is unique, and its culture and climate
should align with its values and goals. While culture
represents an organization's deeper and more enduring
aspects, climate represents employees' more immediate and
tangible experiences. Culture sets „ _ . _ _

So, did we all see Steel Magnolia’s last weekend? Let me just say
the Jenkins County Players did a fantabulous job! Of course, y’all
know I could have played the part of Quiser without acting! But since
I couldn’t act, Carmen did a great job!
That, believe it or not, was the first time I had seen anything in
that theater. I know, right? Growing up, town was just too far from
Emmalane, we didn’t get out much, not even on Saturday nights. I
can’t help but think my old friend Jimmie Edenfield would have
loved it. I promise this won’t be another article about Jimmie. Let’s
just say that I have always had friends older than myself and now I’m
paying the price. I won’t have any friends left in a few years!
So, I would like to blame Jimmie’s dying on me being so emotional
last week. But I can’t. For some reason, my feelings were on my
sleeve all week. It’s like I could have been on a crying jag easy. And
if you don’t know what that is, ask someone who has had one. You
just can’t stop. I think had you looked at me wrong last week, I would
have just burst out crying. Sometimes we need that. No, I didn’t have
a fit, well, I did, just ask my family, but it wasn’t as bad as it could
have been.
Why are we mean to those we love? Am I the only one? You know,
there is an old saying about being careful who you show your crazy
too. Is that what we do with our loved ones? I’m guilty. Everybody
in two counties think I’m a kind, sweet, loving, perfect angel. Only
my family knows I am a devil. It’s like we start feeling unloved and
unappreciated, the next thing you know, you have it built up in your
mind that nobody likes you, then it’s on.
Something is going around the newspaper office because Debbie
has been that way this week. Everytime she gets emotional she goes
next door shopping. They are delighted she just needs a good cry!
That’s all for now, take care!
