Our family has been
blessed to have been
given such a remarkable
man as our Daddy and
Papa. Family was such an
important part of his life
and was shown in his daily
living. We have shared
him, with so many, because
for “Jimmie O” “Family”
was never defined by DNA
but by his love for others.
He truly loved people,
all people, he enjoyed
sharing with those he
loved and building lasting
relationships. His legacy
will live on in the love
that he shared, the lives he
touched and the memories

Mobile Mammography
Unit offers breast cancer
screenings to community
By Joe Brady, Editor

The Times
Screven County - Optim Medical Center-Screven is
proud to announce its partnership with the St. Joseph's/
Candler Mobile Mammography unit, bringing essential
mammography services to Screven County and its
surrounding areas. This collaboration aims to enhance
access to vital breast cancer screenings for the community.
The mobile mammography unit, a symbol of medical
outreach and convenience, will be stationed at Optim
Medical Center-Screven's parking lot twice a month,
providing residents with an opportunity to prioritize their
breast health.
Lagina Evans, CEO of Optim Medical Center-Screven,
expressed her enthusiasm about this collaboration, stating,
"We are pleased to offer this service to our citizens. Twice a
month, the mobile unit is open in our parking lot."
The American College of Radiology recommends annual
mammography screenings for women beginning at the age
of 40. What makes this initiative particularly accessible
is that patients do not require a physician referral to avail
of the mobile service. However, there are some essential
criteria that must be met, as Evans elaborates, "Patients
must have a primary care physician they have seen in the
previous 18 months." Additionally, patients should not be
pregnant or breastfeeding, and it should have been at least
one year since their previous mammogram.
To ensure a smooth experience and avoid any potential
delays, Evans encourages patients to schedule appointments.
Appointments can be made by dialing 912-819-6140. The
St. Joseph's/Candler Mobile Mammography unit will be
available on the first and third Thursday of every month,
ensuring multiple opportunities for residents to benefit
from this valuable service.
The next screening date is September 21, 2023, providing
a timely opportunity for residents to prioritize their
breast health. Early detection of breast cancer through
mammography is a crucial step in improving survival rates
and overall outcomes.
Optim Medical Center-Screven's collaboration with the St.
Joseph's/Candler Mobile Mammography unit underscores
their commitment to the well-being of the community. By
making these screenings more accessible, they are taking
proactive steps to fight breast cancer and promote better
health for all.
For more information about the services provided by
Optim Health Center-Screven and the St. Joseph's/Candler
Mobile Mammography unit, please contact them at 912-

Faith, Hope and Love, and the greatest of these is love.
That is the scripture we read quite often and preachers
preach on the subject several times a year. I like that verse.
It gives me a strength that I need on my daily walk with
Christ.
I heard a story my Great Grandfather would tell to my
Grandparents often. It was a story of a two young adults
and their four children.
You see, on a very cold winter night, while this family
was sleeping, a noise came from the basement of the old
house they lived in. Now, the home had been handed down
from a long line of decendents. and these were the most
recent to inherit the home.
The noise seemed to be coming from the old boiler in the
basement that had just been serviced the previous day. Now,
this boiler was original to the house and had never made
any noise of this nature before.
So, the husband went downstairs to take a look a the old
boiler. It seemed to be okay, it was making a clicking sound,
but he had heard that before and there seemed to be no
issues. So, up the stairs he
would go and back to bed
And just as he had just
fallen asleep, there was
a loud boom. He quickly
arose and proceeded
down the old stairs and
saw smoke billowing
from the basement. He
then proceeded to yell to
the entire family to get out
of the house.
Everyone came from
their bedrooms, all the
kids, and his wife, even
the dog, seemed to be
outside. Or so, he thought. He noticed that one child was
missing. Her brother said, she had stayed to make sure her
dolls were safe.
He started to return to the burning home through the front
door and before he could get inside, the top floor of this old
home had collapsed and the home was engulfed in flames.
Yes, his daughter had died in the fire. He was devastated.
There was nothing he could do, except seek the Lord for
answers and lean on his faith.
Tragedy strikes all of us at different times in our lives. For
the believer, those hardships inform our faith through the
experience of God’s grace at work in our lives. Difficulty
is the place we learn the greatest lessons about God’s
faithfulness to us.
Paul and Silas found themselves wrongfully imprisoned
in the jail in Philippi (Acts 16). The song they sing at
midnight changes everything and demonstrates the
power of the gospel to impact lives even in the worst of
circumstances.
The hymn. Faith, Hope and Love, is a hymn written
by Albert A. Goodson in 1910. The hymn is based on 1
Corinthians 13:13, which states, "And now these three
remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is
love." The hymn is often sung at weddings and funerals.
However, most Churches use it for an anthem at times.
Albert directed the Radio Choir of the F ellowship Baptist
Church in Chicago, Illinois, where he served as minister of
music for many years.
He stated that, "Faith, hope, and Love have been referred
to as the three divine sisters. We can think of them as three
beautiful sisters joined together hand in hand, swirling
around as in a dance."
Faith, hope, and love are also referred to as the theological
virtues. The Christian life, in terms of our living in response
to God and his new work in us, springs from faith, hope,
and love. Everything we do as Christians relates to these
three virtues and they all have a longing, an expectation,
a desire that will one day be fully realized when Christ
returns in glory.
Please sing with me
Faith, hope and love ,
let these endure amoung you.
And the greatest of these is love.
Come, let us love, for Love is of God
In God alone will love be our truth.
Come, let us love, for love is of God
And we will become God's own Children
Come, let us love, for love is of God
For those who do not love.
Will not find God.
