Mary Alice Ruffin,
affectionately known as “Ms.
Mary”, has been a lifelong
resident of Jenkins County.
She was employed at Jockey

she got Certified for Home Health
Care which she is still passionate
about.
Ms. Mary is an alumnus of
Burgess Landrum High School.
She currently attends Zion Baptist
Church.
Ms. Mary is very active within
her community. She is part of the
Millen Soul Steppers. The Millen
Soul Steppers teach line dances
to everyone who wishes to learn.
They participate in many local
events. The most recent event
they will be at is the Fair on the
Square in which they will boogie
their way into the parade. Ms.
Mary also teaches line dance on
Wednesdays at the local Senior
Citizen Center. She also works
with Pastor Broomfield on many

One such project Ms. Mary
was influential in was helping a
local Mother and her 4 kids find
themselves new residency and

member of the MLK Committee.
A fun fact about Ms. Mary that
not many people know is that
at 75 years old she still teaches
line dancing and loves it! Line
dancing is a lot of fun and keeps
those knees feeling young!
When asked who inspires her
Ms. Mary said, “My Mother
and Father are my biggest
inspirations.”
Ms. Mary has 2 children ages

Millen, GA - As the race for
the next Mayor of Millen unfolds,
a familiar face has thrown his
hat into the ring. Mike Dann, a
man deeply rooted in the Millen
community, is determined to
offer citizens a choice for their
city's leadership. With a rich
history and a dedication to public
service, Dann's campaign aims
to usher in a new era of progress
and revitalization for the town he
holds dear.
Mike Dann's journey begins
in Bradenton, Florida, where he
was bom in the spring of 1971.
However, his story tmly takes
shape in Jesup, Georgia, where
he grew up and graduated from
Wayne County High School. In
1989, the Dann family found
their way to Millen when Mike's
father assumed the role of Pastor
at Green Fork Baptist Church. It
was during this time that Mike
fell in love with the rolling hills
and picturesque dairy farms of
Jenkins County, cementing his
deep connection to the community.
In 1994, Mike married Allison
Brinson, and together they
weathered life's ups and downs.
Their journey led them to a
home on Barney Ave, where they
raised three remarkable children.
Guided by faith and a calling to
serve, Mike pursued a career
as a Pastor, finding fulfillment
in leading congregations at
various churches. For the past
nine years, he has faithfully
served as the leader of Botsford
Baptist Church in Burke
County, an experience that has
humbled him and strengthened
his commitment to helping
others.
Mike Dann's path to where
he stands today has been
marked by hard work and
perseverance. He has held
a multitude of jobs, from
Metal Industries and Burke
County EMA to Lowes, Neal
Hardware, and Rocker Supply,
all in the pursuit of providing
for his family. His diverse work
experience includes driving a
school bus, student coaching, and
even working in the lunchroom at
Jenkins County Schools. Through
these endeavors, he learned
valuable life lessons, shaping
the principled and hardworking
individual he is today.
Fueled by a deep sense of
community and the belief in the
importance of choice, Mike Dann
decided to enter the mayoral
race. He sees offering citizens a
selection of qualified candidates
as a fundamental aspect of
democracy. His motivation arises
from the challenges that currently
face Millen and Jenkins County,
as they grapple with economic,
emotional, and spiritual hardships.
Mike Dann's message is
clear: "I am not asking you to
vote for me, but rather make a
sound decision from a selection
of qualified candidates." He
believes in the power of choice,
especially in times when change
is needed. His vision for Millen is
one of revitalization and progress,
unencumbered by special
interests. Dann is prepared to roll
up his sleeves and work tirelessly
for the betterment of his beloved
town.
