Scam Targeting
Veterans Exposed
-Joe Brady, Editor
Clerk of Superior Court Acts
Tracey L. Herrington, the Clerk of Superior Court of Jenkins
County, has taken a stand against a company operating out of
Phoenix, Arizona, that has been exploiting veterans by charging
exorbitant fees for a service mandated to be provided free of
charge. The company in question, DD214 Direct, has been
targeting veterans, charging them between $79 and $138 dollars
for filing paperwork related to their military discharge records.
Herrington, expressing her dismay, stated, "What this company
is doing to these veterans who have fought for our country
is inexcusable. It is always free to file, and copies are always
free. We will no longer accept any filings from DD214 Direct to
further discourage this scam from continuing."
