Henry Lee Royal, II
Henry "Lee" Royal II
passed away Tuesday, March
5th, 2024, at East Georgia
Regional Medical Center after
a short but courageous battle
with cancer.
Lee was born January 8th,
1971, in Augusta, Georgia
to Henry Lee Royal Sr and
Betty Jo Mercer Williams. He
resided in Millen, Georgia for most of childhood. It was
there that he met the love of his life, Jenny, at the age of 15.
The two later relocated to Statesboro, Georgia after getting
married and then starting their family. He is predeceased
by his father, Henry Lee Royal Sr and father in law, Joel
Wiggins. Lee is survived by his wife, Jenny Royal, daughter,
Josie Royal, granddaughter, Zada Leigh Royal, his mother,
Betty Jo Mercer Williams, mother-in-law, Patsy Wiggins
four sisters: Ingrid Royal, Crystal (Jay) Weatherford, Amy
(Jason) Searson, Kryslynn (Dominque) Royal, two brothers,
Perry (Bessie) Royal, and Corey Royal. Numerous friends,
nieces, nephews and other relatives are survived by as well.
Lee was known to be a master of many trades and a
perfectionist in everything that he tackled. At the age of
16, he began perfecting his talents in automotive paint
and body work which people still rave about today. With
his immense talents, Lee had a wide variety of jobs
throughout his life which led him into the construction
field. He honed his skills working next to his talented
father-in-law Joel Wiggins of Wiggins Construction and
later with Tim Durden Construction. Most recently, he
was a self-employed contractor where he blessed so many
with his talents. He also continued to do automative paint
and body at his home for a select few. Anyone who knew
Lee knew that if it could be done, he would be the one that
could do it no matter the challenge. Despite all of that,
his greatest talent came in being a wonderful husband,
father, grandfather, and friend. His greatest joy in life was
spending time with his "little family", his wife of 32 years,
Jenny, his daughter, Josie, and his granddaughter, Zada
Leigh, who he affectionally nicknamed "Willie Pearl". He

Psalm 18:2

Take my yoke upon you, andteam of me
Sam Eades
Publisher
Several years ago, I heard a sermon on the scripture in
Matthew 11 that says, "take my yoke upon you. .for my yoke
is easy and my burden is light."
The pastor told us in the sermon, "like most of you, I
thought the yoke, referred to the yoke of an egg, however,
it does not really."
I have since learned that the word" yoke in greek was
"zugos", which refers to a wooden yoke that joined two
animals together, so they could combine strength to pull a
load that would have been difficult for one animal to pull
all on it's own.
Now, I have to say, the idea of a yoke around my neck
is not too appealing.. But, when I think about the yoke's
purpose, I can see the message behind it.
I can remember many years ago hearing a hymn sang, by
a African Choir that was visiting America, and we had
made provisions for them to attend and perform at one of
our services this particlaryear. They sang this particlular
hymn. They all learned it in english, and it was fairly good
too. We could understand what they were saying.
They would perform the song to a dance including the use
of animal yokes that were made especially for two children
to use ana hand signs to reflect the words to each verse
and chorus. One person stood on the side of the stage and
gave the sign lanuage to every word sang.
I have to sav, it was very meaningful. It gave all of us a new
look on the nymn and what it meant to take his yoke upon
us and learn of Christ. You see, to take the yoke of Christ
upon us, is to obey the gospel of Christ, to jueld ourselves
to the Lord, completely.
The hymn was written by wife of James M. Dungan,
Helen "Nellie" Silcott Dungan. Helen wrote over 300
hymns in her lifetime. She was born on April 10,1855 in
Millersburg, Ohio. She attended Hiram College in Hiram,
Ohio. She was once the leader of the "woman's work of the
Christian Church in Franklin, Indiana.
Helen and her husband (a hymn writer also) James Milton
Dungan were married in 1875 and had three children.
Both would write hymns together at times. Most of the
hymns Ms. Dungan would write were set to music by her
husband. And sometimes, she would use the name Nellie
Dungan on some of her writings.
She spoke fondly of her hymn M Take my yoke upon you."
"I found that while working on a farm and helping my
husband, that it takes more than one person to make your
burdens light and for you to be happy. Take the yoke of the
Lord upon you and tell him your burdens and he will see
you through them, together, you can conquer anything."
Helen Dungan died of heart disease in May of 1914 ana is
buried in Franklin, Indiana with her husband.
Keep on believing, the Lord's yoke is easy and his burden
is light. Just give whatever you have or need to him. And
together, he will see you through.
Sing with me

1 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me.
For my yoke is easy and my burden shall be light
You shall be made happy, from sin you’ll be free,
Following Jesus your pathway will be bright.
Refrain:
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me,
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light,
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me,
You shall find rest unto your souls.
2 Take my yoke upon you, for lighter far,
Every burden seemeth when I all your weakness
share,
Though life’s cares annoy you, they never can mar,
The blessed Savior can lighten every care. [Refrain]
3 Take my yoke upon you, ‘twill be your aid,
When life’s cares and sorrows darkly gather ‘round
your way,
Looking unto Jesus, you’ll not be dismayed,
And He will guide you to everlasting day. [Refrain]
