The Recreation Department is Hopping
Sunday was Easter and the Easter has been hopping around. However, it was not the bunny that was hopping
all over the Jenkins County Recreation Department this past week, it was the boys and girls playing t-ball,
coach pitch, softball, and baseball as the 2024 Spring Season got underway. Unfortunately, the annual Opening
Day Celebration was canceled due to the weather; however, there is plenty in store for this season.
As you enjoy the pictures that have been sent in and posted from opening week, take time to read the article
from Kenya Adams at the Jenkins County Recreation Department. Weekly, Kenya will keep us up to date on
all the happenings in her new article featured here at the Jenkins County Times called Rec Talk! Get out and
support our young athletes these next few weeks!
Lainee Aspinwall
Kyleigh and Isabelle Roberts, sisters, are having
to play against each other this season! This should
make for some fun bragging rights at home!

Rec Talk Kenya Adams
Whew What a week. So unfortunately, we
had to push Open Day back until May 4. So, this
year, instead of Opening Day, we will have our very
first Closing Day Celebration; the same exact day
as the BBQ Cook Off so you can imagine how BIG
this is going to be. We have reached out to some
surrounding counties and have a couple of them
that want to come out and play our softball and
baseball teams. So, Mark your calendars May 4th
at 10am, Jenkins County Recreation will be having
a Closing Day Celebration. And we want ALL of you
to come out and help us celebrate a successful 2024
Fall Season. We are looking forward to doing great
things here at the Rec and this Celebration is just the
beginning.
Final Thoughts: Parents, Be present. The smallest
gesture can have the largest impact. When your
child(ren) look over to the sideline, be there. Make it
normal to show up and be supportive. It’s a memory
your child will never forget. I know I surely haven’t
forgotten the support of my family throughout my
youth and adulthood.
Thanks, You For All You Do

Our photo of the week is of our very own Editor
Joe Brady as he enjoys a laugh with Jett and Jude
Johnson! As the Sports Editor, I must say, this is
what recreation ball is all about at the Jenkins County
Recreation Department. Children laughing, friends
and family enjoying games, and baseball/softball is
being played. Sometimes it is the simple moments in
life that remind us what matters, this photo shows us
that and that is why it is the Photo of the Week.
