CARTERS LAKE
It is time to talk, road trip. The weather has been
perfect for a road trip. With exception of this past
week's storms, it is perfect time for a road trip with
the family.
I like to take one about every quarter if possible.
Now, I know, as for costs, it can be kind of pricey to
drive now a days, and we all need to cut corners to
make ends meet.
However, there is a place were you can do all of
that, along with bringing the family along too, and
not leaving anyone slighted or at home.
Carters Lake embraces a spectacular tract of
foothills scenery in the Blue Ridge Mountains of
Northwest Georgia. Its sparkling waters and rugged
shoreline provide a beautiful surrounding for a
variety of recreational opportunities, which include
camping, fishing, picnicking, boating, hiking and bird
watching.
Carters Lake has 3,200 surface acres and is more
than 450 feet deep. Carters Dam is the tallest earthen
dam east of Mississippi River. Carters Lake shoreline
has no private docks or development along 62 miles
of natural shoreline. The lake is named after Farrish
Carter, who owned property nearby in the 1800s.
Carters Lake has a privately run, full-service
marina offering boat docks, cabins rentals and boat
rentals.
This area also provides over 6,000 acres of hunting
and fishing opportunities as well as outdoor activities
for visitors like hiking, mountain biking, camping
and more.
Talk about the perfect place for the family? And you
won't have to come out with alot of money. A good bit
of the things at the park are free.
Like my Mother would always say, "you don't
always need alot of money to have a good time with
your family."
So, so true guys! Happy fishing and picnicing!
Happy Trails to you!

The Return of These
Three Spells ITCH
-Special to The Times
Poison ivy, poison oak and poison sumac can cause
itchy, blistering rashes due to an oil called urushiol
found in these plants. Most cases can be managed at
home, but if you experience severe symptoms, seek
immediate medical attention. Here’s how to treat the
rash:
1.Immediate Actions:
**Wash your skin: Rinse the affected area with
lukewarm, soapy water as soon as possible after
contact with poison ivy, oak, or sumac. This helps
remove some of the oil and prevent further spread.
**Wash clothing: Thoroughly wash all clothes that
encounter the plant. The oil can stick to clothing and
cause another rash if it touches your skin.
**Avoid scratching: Scratching can lead to infection.
Leave blisters intact; the overlying skin protects the
raw wound underneath.
2. Relieving Itch:
** Short, lukewarm baths: Use colloidal oatmeal
preparations (available at drugstores) or add one cup
of baking soda to running water during baths.
**Topicaltreatments:
□ Calamine lotion: Helps reduce itching.
□ Hydrocortisone cream: Provides relief.
□ Zinc-based skin protectants: Dry out oozing and
weeping rashes.
3. Emergency Situations: If you experience any
of the following, seek immediate medical help:
^Difficulty breathing or swallowing
**Rash around eyes, mouth, or genitals
^"Swelling on the face
**Severe itching or inability to sleep
**Rashes covering most of your body
**Fever
4 .Prevention:
**Avoid contact: Learn to recognize these plants and
avoid touching them.
**Wear protective clothing: Gloves, long sleeves, and
boots can prevent exposure.
**Don’t burn the plants: Inhaling smoke from
burning poison ivy, oak, or sumac can irritate the
throat, lungs, and eyes.
