GSP Releases Findings on
Clayton Road Fatalities
-Joe Brady, Editor
Following the harrowing incident on Clayton Road
last week that claimed the lives of two individuals,
the Georgia State Patrol has unveiled its findings
in a comprehensive report shedding light on the
circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
On Sunday, April 14, 2024, at approximately 9
p.m., tragedy struck as a 2010 Honda FIT, registered
to Rose Saldana of Millen, and operated by Ronnie
Vasquez, 25, of the same locality, was navigating
southbound on Clayton Road. Initial investigations
indicate that the vehicle, driven by Vasquez, was
moving at an excessive speed given the prevailing
conditions, as it endeavored to negotiate a curve
along the roadway.
In a desperate attempt to maneuver the curve at
a high rate of speed, the driver lost control of the
vehicle, propelling it into a perilous spin. The vehicle
careened sideways for an estimated distance of 140
feet before careening off the road and plunging into a
nearby pond, ultimately coming to rest inverted.
Tragically, the occupants of the vehicle, identified
as Cliton Vasquez, 28, also of Millen, and Ronnie
Vasquez, succumbed to their injuries at the scene of
the accident. The devastating loss of the two brothers
was confirmed by their grief-stricken father, who was
present at the scene.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the
catastrophic consequences of reckless driving and
the importance of exercising caution and prudence
behind the wheel.

In the event of a crash, even buckled up, a child
is more likely to be injured or killed if they are
sitting in the front seat. So whether they are in a
car seat, booster seat, or using a seat belt, the best

Jenkins, and Screven Counties, serves as the focal
point of Busbee's aspirations, as he endeavors to
instigate meaningful change and redress systemic
inefficiencies.
Citing concerns over the perceived shortcomings in
the delivery of justice, Busbee outlined his vision for
the District Attorney's office. "Our tax money is being
wasted, and too many victims are not seeing justice.
I will do a better job at prosecuting cases," asserted
Busbee, underscoring his commitment to effectuating
tangible improvements.
Central to Busbee's platform is the restoration
of a steadfast work ethic within the DA's office, a
principle he views as foundational to the pursuit
of justice. By fostering a culture of diligence and
dedication among his team, Busbee aims to cultivate
an environment conducive to optimal performance
and outcomes.
As the countdown to the election commences,
voters are urged to exercise their civic duty, with
early voting slated to commence from April 29 to
May 17, culminating in the election day on May 21,
2024. With the stakes high and the future of the
Ogeechee Judicial Circuit hanging in the balance,
Robert Busbee emerges as a beacon of hope, offering
a compelling vision for progress and reform.
