The first time I heard the name
of this recipe was from a friend
on Facebook. No doubt, I had
the same reaction you had....
ewwww. In spite of it all I gave
it a try and I am so glad I did! I
hope you will too.
Turnip Green Soup
(way better than it sounds)
1 large can Margaret Homes
seasoned turnip greens
1 can chicken broth
1 can Rotel (your choice)
1 can black eyed peas - drain
1 can navy beans - drain
1 can kidney beans - drain
1 large onion — chopped
1 pound sausage - chopped small
Fry the sausage and onion a little
bit and then add the other ingredi
ents and cook for about 30 minutes!
I like to use a lightly spiced sausage.
This recipe is easy to double or
triple depending on your crowd!

Kitchen Sink Salad
•Pick any greens you have on hand
•Pick any meat (lunchmeat or
leftovers)
•Add all leftover’s you have in the
frig
•Cut up a couple of boiled eggs
•Open a can of peas or other veg
etables, drained
•Add anything else you want from
either your frig or pantry
•Can also add precooked pasta or
rice
•Mix together and add dressing of
choice
Share with others or enjoy all to
yourself. Makes a great summer
standalone meal or add it all in a big
pot with either chicken or beef broth
(depending on your meat) and you
have an end of week soup!

Chocolate, it’s a killer
•Dozier'S
fitegjie
Chocolate is toxic to dogs and depending on the type
and amount of chocolate consumed and the weight of
your dog, it could cause a serious medical emergency.
Chocolate contains both theobromine and caffeine, both
of which can speed the heart rate and stimulate the ner
vous system of dogs.
The most toxic is cocoa powder then unsweetened
baker’s chocolate, followed by semisweet chocolate, dark
chocolate and finally milk chocolate.
Knowing how much and what kind of chocolate your
dog ate can help determine if you have an emergency.
Mild symptoms of chocolate toxicity occur when a dog
consumes 20 mg of methylxanthines per kilogram of
body weight. Cardiac symptoms occur around 40-50mg/
kg, and seizures occur at dosages greater than 60mg/kg.
In simpler terms, that means a very concerning dose of
chocolate is approximately one once of milk chocolate
per pound of body weight. Since an average Hershey’s
Milk Chocolate bar is 1.55 ounces, consuming even one
chocolate bar can have serious consequences, especially
for small dogs. Eating a crumb of chocolate cake or a
very small piece of chocolate bar, on the other hand,
probably won’t kill your dog, especially if it is a larger
breed, but chocolate should never be fed as a treat.
