SCREVEN COUNTY
Notice is hereby given that the Georgia Department of
Transportation has approved the use of and the routing
of a detour for this project. The date of detour approval
is: August 8, 2023 This project will replace the existing
bridge on CR238/Buck Creek Road over Buck Creek
Tributary approximately 2.6 miles east of Sylvania. The
project begins approximately 0.1 miles west of the bridge
and ends approximately 0.1 miles east of the bridges
with an approximate project length of 0.2 miles. This
project would include an off-site detour.
An off-site detour will be utilized for the combined
24-month construction duration for both PI 0016600
and PI 0016601 (twinned let). The off-site detour will
utilize Brannen's Bridge Road, and Newington
Hwy. The total detour length is 6.6 miles, with a net
travel length increase of 1.9 miles. Drawings or maps or
plats of the proposed project, as approved, are on file
and are availab e for public inspection at the Georgia

Technician Apprentice. Employee will perform skilled work in the installation,
operation, repair, and maintenance of the City water distribution and sewer collection
systems; does related work as required under the supervision of a Certified Class III
Water Plant Operator. Applicant must be a high school graduate or possess GED and
have a valid state of Georgia motor vehicle operator’s license. Position requires new
employee and random drug testing. Starting salary dependent on experience. Salary
increase after six-month successful probationary period and annually thereafter as

The City of Sylvania is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.
Employee would perform skilled work involving criminal investigations, protection
of life and property, traffic control, road patrol, and other duties required by an
officer. Applicants must be able to interact publicly utilizing effective written and
verbal skills. P.O.S.T. certified and uncertified personnel may apply for this
position, P.O.S.T. certified preferred. An investment into P.O.S.T. certification
will be awarded to the proper uncertified candidate. Upon conditional offer of
employment, candidate must successfully complete extensive background check
that includes criminal history/driver’s history, drug testing, and physical agility
assessment. Work schedule shift is based on the needs of the department and
includes rotating shifts, days, nights, weekends, holidays, court, and special
events.
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; proof of a valid
driver’s license prior to employment with suitable DMV record; successful
completion of background investigation prior to employment; ability to attend the
Police Academy (21 years of age or older) if not certified.
Starting salary for a certified employee will be based on experience and
uncertified will be paid during the police academy, plus end of year pay equal to
1.25% of annual base salary as budget year allows. Benefits package, to include
health & dental insurance options, retirement, life insurance equal to 1.5 times
salary, disability insurance - short Samp; long term, vacation leave, sick leave, and 11

Superintendent. The position requires a high school diploma or a State of GA
approved GED Equivalent, a valid Georgia Driver’s License and a Class III Level
Certification as a Water Operator under State Certification procedures. This position
plans, supervises and participates in the operation, maintenance and repair of the
City’s water distribution, purification and sewer systems. Experience, specifically as
it relates to Water Sewer operations is preferred. Equivalent combination of training
and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be
considered. Work involves supervising and training Water Sewer employees. Position
requires exercising of independent judgment in resolving daily operational problems
and is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Utilities.
Starting salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Salary increase after
six-month successful probationary period and annually thereafter dependent upon
budget constraints. Benefits include health insurance options for the employee,
