DYANA BAG BY U.S. Rep. John Lewis (D-Atlanta) stumps for Democrat Jon Ossoff at a small early voting rally in Sandy Springs this month. Deutsch attended an Ossoff rally fea turing U.S. Rep. John Lewis held June 2 near the North Fulton Government Service Cen ter, an early voting site in Sandy Springs. “I’m here to support Jon Ossoff because my priorities are healthcare and the econ omy,” said Deutsch, who declined to state her political affiliation. “I think Jon Ossoff will be the better congressperson. He will be a very effective congressperson because he’s worked on Capitol Hill and shares many of the same priorities of the resi dents of the 6th District.” Many other local officials, including the mayors and several councilmem- bers of Dunwoody and Sandy Springs, have endorsed Handel or attended her campaign rallies. Dunwoody Mayor Denis Shortal and Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul attend ed a local Handel rally featuring U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) last month. Among the local councilmem- bers publicly supporting Handel are Dunwoody’s Terry Nall, Doug Thomp son and Pam Tallmadge; Broolchaven’s Joe Gebbia and Bates Mattison; and San dy Springs’ Chris Burnett, Ken Dishman and Gabriel Sterling. Brookhaven Mayor Jon Ernst, a Dem ocrat, said June 2 he is not endorsing a candidate in the race. John Ruch contributed to this report.
