crimes in
Georgia. House
Bill 426 (HB
426) became law July 1st. The bill had
overwhelming bi-partisan support. The full
Senate approved the hate crimes bill with a
47-6 vote. The House then approved it
127-38.

The Carroll County Primary Election Runoff
will be held Tuesday, August 11th, with early
voting beginning Monday, July 20th and ending
Friday, August 7th. This runoff will have two
contested races: state court judge for the Coweta
Judicial Circuit (a five county district which
includes Carroll County) and state representa
tive for District 18 (parts of Carroll and
Haralson counties). The winner of the state
court seat will become the next court judge. The
winner of the state representative seat will go on
to the November General Election and face the
Democrat candidate Pat Rhudy, U.S. Census
Bureau field representative.
The non-partisan state court seat is between
two Carroll County attorneys Met Lane and
Erica Tisinger. The state representative seat is

County Board of Health and Infectious
Disease Specialist for Tanner Health
System, addressed the Carrollton Kiwanis
Club on June 19, 2020 at the Courtyard
Marriott in Carrollton. She spoke on the
status of the COV1D-19 pandemic and
how it related to the local community.
Dr. Larson, medical director of infec
tion prevention for Tanner Health System,
is board-certified in both infectious dis
eases and internal medicine. She earned
her medical degree from the Mercer
University School of Medicine and com-

are carrying out a series of actions to promote awareness/danger of quarry

under watch of then chairman Bill Chappell in form of “Zoning Ordinance Draff

On September 19, 2019, a Conceptual
Site Plan was drawn for a 360+- acre rock
quarry to be located bordering Black Dirt
Road in Whitesburg (near Byers
Crossroads) on one side and the
Chattahoochee River on another side (see
drawing page 29). The plan was drawn up
by Black Rock Consulting, LLC,
Dunwoody Park, Atlanta, for Green Rock,
LLC, Norcross, Georgia, and was submit
ted for consideration this past June along
with a DRf Application (Developments of
Regional Impact).
