At its Tuesday, December 6, 2022,
regular meeting, the Carroll County
Board of Commissioners and Chairman
voted to approve moving $10 million dol
lars of tax collections into two banks that
“need deposits” “so they can loan money
to businesses in Carroll County”.
In return, the county government will
collect a profit from the interest of the
two $5 million Certificates of Deposit

Although there were 336,315 less Georgia
voters participating in the December 6th U.S
Senate Runoff Election race than did for the
original three-party November 8th Senate con
test, Incumbent Raphael Warnock (D) easily
overcame runoff challenger Herschel Walker
(R) by 90,134 votes.
Polls closed on Tuesday, Dec. 6th at 7:00
p.m., with tallies steadily being shared the next

KidsPeace in Bowdon hires
new executive director

KidsPeace has named Dr. Joseph Cox to the
position of Executive Director of KidsPeace
Georgia, its behavioral health residential treat
ment program based in Bowdon. Cox replaces
longtime director Louis Shagawat, who retired
earlier this year. Cox began work December 5th.
Since 2020, Cox was Director of Operations at
the Community Foundation of West Georgia
