Upson Lee Temporarily Goes Virtual
Amid Educator Vaccination Period
The Thomaston-Upson
School System announced
earlier this week that face-
to-face students will tempo
rarily utilize virtual learning
operations for four days this
month while educators are
given the opportunity to re
ceive COVID-19 Vaccina
tions. The following was
released by T-U Schools on
Monday, March l:
“Hello T-U Parents and
Guardians. Governor Kemp
has officially added PK-12
teachers and staff to those
eligible to receive the
COVID-19 vaccination in
Georgia. We are so appre
ciative of our T-U faculty
and staff and all they have
done to ensure that face-to-
face instruction was a safe,
viable option for the stu
dents within the Thomas-
ton-Upson School District
this year. Now, we are tak
ing the opportunity to con
tribute to the health and
safety of T-U faculty and
staff.
“Thomaston-Upson
Schools is partnering with
Upson Regional Medical
Center for the vaccine roll
out to education employees.
The hospital will be hosting
two days of vaccinations
just for TU Schools employ
ees - Monday, March 8, for
the first dose and Monday,
March 29, for the second
dose. As a result of this pro
cess, we will be altering the
school calendar and making
Monday and Tuesday,
March 8 and 9, remote
learning days for our face-
to-face (traditional) stu
dents. This allows one day
for completion of vaccina
tions and one day in the
event that our employees
have side effects from the
vaccine. We will follow this
same process on Monday
and Tuesday, March 29 and
30 (remote learning days
for face-to-face students.)
You will be receiving ad
ditional information about
these four remote learning
days from your child’s prin
cipal and/or teacher(s).
“Thank you for your
support of Thomaston-
Upson Schools and for al
lowing us to take this
significant step towards re
turning to normal within
our schools and our com
munities.”
