Mrs. June
Deavours Worsham
Mrs. June Deavours Wor
sham, age 87, of Thomaston,
died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021 at
Heritage Inn of Barnesville.
Mrs. Worsham was born
July 20,1933, in Leslie, to the
late Loomis E. and Vera Wallace
Deavours. At the age of 10 she
was baptized at Leslie Baptist
Church.
She graduated in 1950 from
Union High School in Leslie.
Mrs. June attended Georgia
Southwestern College in Amer-
icus for one year, then trans
ferred to Bessie Tift College in
1951 and received a degree in
general science with a biology
major in 1954.
On Dec. 19,1954, she mar
ried Grover C. Worsham, Jr. at
Leslie Baptist Church, a mar
riage that lasted 61 and 1/2
years. She taught science in
public schools for 30 years; five
years at Yatesville High, 24 years
at R.E. Lee Institute, and one
year at another school system.
She was a member of First
United Methodist Church of
Thomaston, the UMW, Fellow
ship Class, and served in various
positions on committees of the
church. Mrs. Worsham was very
active in her church, with the
Samaritan's Purse Shoe-box
Christmas Ministry and an avid
Peanuts collector, who traveled
around the state doing pro-

Feb. 3. Some of the stolen
property has been recovered,

Cawthon is being held at
the Coweta County Jail on
unrelated charges and will be
transported to Upson County
upon his release. The case re
mains active, and the investi
gation is ongoing.

daughter, Wanda (Frank) Ren-
froe of Thomaston; son, Wayne
Deavours (Becky) Worsham of
Donalsonville; granddaughters,
Lindsay Worsham (Ben) Dicker-
son of Nicholson and Logan
Worsham (Jamie) Holt of Johns
Creek; grandson, Ryan Clayton
(Georgianne) Renfroe of An
chorage, Alaska; great-grand
sons, Cole, Connor and Jackson
Wayne Dickerson of Nicholson;
sisters, Joan (Ed) Cordell of
Americus and Joy (Dewey)
Touchton of Deltona, Fla.; sister-
in-law, Emma Deavours of Du
luth; brother-in-law, James
Owens of Birmingham, Ala.; also
many nieces, nephews, great
nieces, and great-nephews.
Graveside services were held
Sunday, Feb. 28, in Southview
Cemetery.

Mrs. Barbara
Ragan York
Mrs. Barbara Ragan York,
age 85, of Thomaston, passed
away Monday, Feb. 22, 2021 at
her residence.
Mrs. York was bom Oct. 21,
1935 in Pike County, to the late
Malcolm C. Ragan and the late
Mary Weatherly Ragan. She re
tired from William Carter Com
pany and was a member of Jeff
Davis Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by
her husband, Warren C. York;
brothers, Douglas Ragan and
Stanley Ragan; and sister, Doro
thy Reeves.
Survivors include her
daughters, Wanda (Jeff) Smith
and Darlene York Iifsey, both of
Thomaston; son, Mike (Beverly)
York of Thomaston; 12 grand
children; 28 great-grandchil
dren; and two Godchildren.
Graveside services were
held Thursday, Feb. 25, from
Crystal Hill Cemetery.

GDOT, he has served in multi
ple positions, including plan
ning engineer for the
NaviGAtor system during the
1996 Olympic Games and Dis
trict 3 traffic operations man
ager. He was named the
district engineer for the West
Central region in 2015.
As district engineer, Pres
ley was responsible for 522
personnel across 31 counties.
Under his leadership, District
3 administered and has pro
duced several highly impactful
projects including the I-75 ex
press lanes in Henry County,
the implementation of the Fall
Line Freeway and the I-16/I-
75 interchange in Bibb County.
Presley directed District 3
to be the first region to install
and administer a traffic man
agement center outside of At
lanta. He is well-known for his
support of innovative intersec
tions and improved signal op
erations, which have made
West Central Georgia a model
for other regions and munici
palities across the state.
Presley is known for his
forward-focused, innovative
programs and projects. He au
thored several white papers
and presented at multiple con
ferences for industry organiza
tions including the Intelligent
Transportation Society of
America and the Intelligent
Transport Systems (ITS)
World Congress. In 2020 he
was honored with the Carl
Bevins Distinguished Service
Award from the Georgia Insti
tute of Transportation Engi
neers for his support of
progressive traffic operations
throughout his career.
"It's an honor to have
served as district engineer,"
says Michael Presley. "It was
n't just a career for me, it was
a calling. Now that I'm retiring,
I'm following another calling.
I'll never stop being proud of
the team we built at District 3
and their potential as they con
tinue to move forward."
