"Lynn" Bates
Mr. Frank Lynnwood
"Lynn" Bates, age 84, ofYa-
tesville, died Monday, April
19, 2021 at his residence.
Mr. Bates was born Nov.
30, 1936 in Meansville, to
the late George Frank Bates
and the late Bobbie Bates.
He served his country in the
United States Army for 20
years, and then went on to
be the superintendent for
Upson County Schools for
32 years, and 10 years at
Mary Persons in Forsyth.
He was a member of Yates-
ville Baptist Church.
In addition to his par
ents, he was preceded in
death by his daughter, Lori
Passmore; son, Michael L.
Bates; and brother, Robert
Bates.
Survivors include his
wife, Linda L. Bates of Ya-
tesville; son, Todd (Linda)
Bates of Yatesville; and nu
merous grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were
held Thursday, April 22,
from Yatesville Baptist
Church. Burial followed at
Fincher Methodist Church
Cemetery.

Mr. Robert "Bobby"
Howard Booker
Mr. Robert "Bobby"
Howard Booker, age 58, of
Thomaston, died Sunday,
April 25, 2021 at Upson Re
gional Medical Center.
Mr. Booker was born
Dec. 17,1962 in Thomaston,
to the late Hansel Howard
Booker, Jr., and the late
Linda Peterson Booker.
Bobby worked for 30 years
with various fire depart
ments in Upson County,
most of his time was with
Northside Fire Department,
and worked for the Upson
County Emergency Man
agement Agency as the res
cue chief for four years.
He was the "go to" re
source for river operations
for a number of years. He
had a vast knowledge of the
Flint River and did his part
to preserve it for future gen
erations to enjoy. He was a
member of Mt. View Baptist
Church, and was preceded
in death by his parents.
Survivors include his
wife, Teresa Booker of
Thomaston; daughter,
Kristi Booker Feltman of
Thomaston; sons, Chris
Black of Thomaston and
John Booker of Thomaston;
brother, Billy Booker of
Thomaston; and grandchil
dren, Reese, Lydia, Brant
ley, and Kylie.
Memorial services were
held Wednesday, April 28,
from the Pavilion at The
Gathering Church.

Edward Brazas, Sr.
Mr. Ronald Edward
Brazas, Sr., age 80, of Bar
nesville, passed away Sat
urday, April 17, 2021.
Ron was born in Cam
bridge, Mass., Friday, June
14, 1940 to the late Frank
Brazas and the late Claire
Valentino Brazas. He was
also preceded in death by
his daughter, Susan. Ron
grew up in Billerica, Mass,
and graduated Essex Aggie,
where he began his love of
dairy farming and cattle
judging. At 17, Ron entered
the United States Army,
where he served as a heli
copter mechanic from 1957-
1960.
After completing his
military service, Ron moved
to middle Georgia, where he
began farming and made
his home for the next 55
years. Ron was a Christian
who would always describe
himself as friend of the
Lord his Savior. He raised a
family and was a loved
father, brother, grand
father, and friend to many
in his more than 50 years in
Middle Georgia.
In addition, Ron was
also a hotrodder, cowboy,
cattleman, and master tin-
kerer which he pursued
right up to his final days.
Ron was intelligent and
bold, never afraid to share
his opinion (whether re
quested or not). His lively
personality will truly be
missed by those that knew
him well.
Ron is survived by his
daughter and son-in-law,
Bonnie and Matthew
Stoller; sons and daughters-
in-law, Tim and Millie Bra
zas and Ron Jr. and Nicole
Brazas; daughter, Hollie
Brazas; grandchildren, Rob
Bacon, Erica Stoller, Adam
Stoller, Monroe Clinton,
Cena Maeve Johnson; and
brothers and sisters-in-law,
Dan and Ginger Brazas and
Ken and Donna Brazas.
A memorial service for
Ron was held Saturday,
May 15, at Williams-West-
bury Funeral Home in Bar
nesville.

Mr. Charlies Lee "Char
lie" Fields, age 58, of Thom
aston, died Sunday, April
25, 2021 at his home.
Mr. Fields was born in
Thomaston Feb. 27,1963, a
son of Ida Glynnis Bailey
Fields and the late Charlie
L. Fields. He was a self-em
ployed painter and car
penter.
Mr. Fields is survived by
his mother, Ida Glynnis
Fields; a daughter, Ashley;
four sisters, Mary Ann
Fields, Velma (Joseph)
Montomery, T. J. Fields,
and Lou (Jimmy) Brown,
all of Thomaston; a brother,
Joseph (Melissa) Fields of
Thomaston; and numerous
nieces, nephews, great-
nieces and great-nephews,
all of whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his father,
he was preceded in death by
brothers Henry Fields, Mel
vin Corley, and Roger
Fields.

Miss Vivian Gordy
Miss Vivian Gordy, age
89, a life-long resident of
Upson County, died Wed
nesday, April 21, 2021, at
West Village Retirement
Community. Graveside fu
neral services for Miss
Gordy were held on Friday,
April 23, in the Valley Grove
Baptist Church Cemetery
with Rev. Travis Graham
officiating.
Miss Gordy was born on
June 8,1931, to the late Carl
Willis Gordy, Sr. and Lillie
Mae Hall Gordy. She was a
1947 graduate of R.E. Lee
Institute and enjoyed work
ing on their class reunions.
After graduation she was
employed by Bray Furni
ture Company for 15 years.
She later was employed by
and retired from C&S Bank
with 28 years of service.
Miss Gordy enjoyed
crossword puzzles and
reading. She was a member
of the URMC Auxiliary and
worked at the hospital gift
shop. She was a lifetime
member of Valley Grove
Baptist Church, where she
served as a Sunday school
teacher, pianist, organist,
and church treasurer.
In addition to her par
ents, Miss Gordy was pre
ceded in death by a sister,
Doris Gordy; a sister and
brother-in-law, Josephine
Gordy Daniel and Pete Dan
iel; and a brother and
sister-in-law, Carl W.
Gordy, Jr. and Evelyn
Gordy.
Survivors include a
niece, Sandra (Frank) Wol
cott of Hoover, Ala.; four
nephews, David (Becky)
Daniel of Aledo, Texas,
Barry (Connie) Gordy of
Meansville, Terry (Nancy)
Gordy of Griffin, and Todd
(Fraser) Gordy of Macon;
and special cousins, Joyce
Warren, Jerry (Martha)
Helms, Angie (David)
Short, and Andy (Judy)
Warren, all of Thomaston.
Several great nieces and
nephews also survive.

Mr. Wilson L. Perdue
Mr. Wilson L. Perdue,
age 79, of Grayson, died
peacefully Thursday, April
22, 2021, at Emory Univer
sity Hospital in Atlanta,
with his family by his side.
Graveside funeral services
for Mr. Perdue were held
Monday, April 26, at noon,
at Upson Memorial Gar
dens.
Mr. Perdue was born
July 31, 1941, in Thomas
ton, to the late Wesley Per
due and the late Ruby
Wilson Perdue. He was a
1959 graduate of Yatesville
High School and later re
ceived an associate’s degree
from Gordon College. Mr.
Perdue was retired from the
Georgia Department of
Transportation, where he
was a project manager. He
was a member of Gideons
International for many
years.
Mr. Perdue was a long
time member of Valley
Grove Baptist Church,
where he was a deacon and
Sunday school teacher and
held various other posi
tions. He later attended Cal
vary Baptist Church in
Monroe. He loved his
family, especially his grand
sons.
In addition to his par
ents, Mr. Perdue was pre
ceded in death by a sister,
Jean Ware Young. He is
survived by his wife, Peggy
Fallin Perdue of Grayson; a
son, Brian (Karen) Perdue
of Loganville; three grand
sons, Trevor, Trent, and
Trey Perdue; a brother,
Charles "Yogi" Perdue; a
niece, Anna Ware; and a
nephew, Glenn Ware.

Mrs. Patsy Ruth Peters
Pollard, age 81, of Thomas
ton, passed away Thursday,
April 22, 2021 at Heritage
Inn of Barnesville.
Mrs. Pollard was born
on July 9,1939 in Gwinnett
County, to the late Ray
Peters and the late Verlon
Bennett Peters. She worked
in the finishing department
with Thomaston Mills for
25 years and was a member
of Hebron Church. In ad
dition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by
her stepson, Benny Frank
Pollard, Jr.
Survivors include her
husband, Benny Frank Pol
lard, Sr., of Thomaston;
daughter, Melanie McCaus-
land of Manchester; step
daughters, Shelia (Joe)
Melton of Molena, Regina
(Tony) McCard of Molena;
sons, Barry (Karen) Helms
of Eatonton and Larry Don
