Mr. Doug Aycock, age
78, of Hoschton, formerly
of Thomaston, passed
away Tuesday, Oct. 5,
2021.
Graveside services
were held Friday, Oct. 8, at
Fellowship Baptist Church
Cemetery in Thomaston.
Rev. Kenneth Aycock offi
ciated.
Mr. Aycock was born in
Thomaston, to the late
E.D. Aycock and Mary
Pitts Aycock. He was re
tired from AT&T and
Western Electric with 36
years of service. He was a
member of Fellowship
Baptist Church in Thom
aston and also attended
West End Baptist in Man
chester. He was a graduate
of Bass High School in At
lanta, class of 1961. He
served his country in the
U.S. Coast Guard from
1965 toi97i.
Survivors include his
wife of 53 years, Mrs.
Kathy B. Aycock of Hosch
ton; daughter, Laurie Ay
cock (Tonia Burk) of
Marietta; sons, Stephen
Aycock of Shiloh and Ken
neth Aycock (Heather) of
Hoschton; grandchildren,
David Braden, Kendall and
Connor Aycock; sister,
Brenda Newman; and
brothers, Alan (Sandy)
and George Aycock.

Mr. Alton Herron
Cook, age 79, of Thomas
ton, passed away Friday
Oct. 8, 2021 at his res
idence.
Mr. Cook was born
April 13, 1942, in Upson
County to the late Albert
Herron Cook and the late
Mary Jane Hammock
Cook. He worked at Mar
tha Mills for 42 years and
attended Mountain View
Baptist Church.
In addition to his par
ents, he was preceded in
death by his sisters, Mar
tha Jean Cook and Eleanor
Helga Matthews.
Survivors include his
wife, Imogene Cook of
Thomaston; daughter,
Karen (Todd) Lowe of
Thomaston; son, Larry
Alan (Bobbi) Cook of
Woodbury; sister, Sybil
Ann Hammock of Thom
aston; five grandchildren;
and eight great-grandchil
dren.
Funeral services were
held Sunday, Oct. 10, from
Mountain View Baptist
Church. Burial followed at
Upson Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Alton Dawson
Mr. Alton Dawson, 87,
of South Green Street,
passed Saturday, Oct. 2,
2021 at Providence Health
and Rehab.
Funeral services were
held Saturday, Oct. 9, in
the George E. Trice, Jr.
Memorial Chapel. Pastor
Ralph Searcy officiated,
assisted by Pastor Jimmy
Lyons and Evangelist San
dra T. Trice. Interment
was in Fellowship Ceme
tery.
Mr. Dawson was born
in Talbot County and was
educated in the public
schools of Talbot County.
During his early manhood,
he had a love for cars and
was taught how to repair
them. He operated his own
local business in Thomas
ton in his early years.
In 1974 he moved to
Los Angeles, Calif. He re
sided in California for
more than 50 years. He
became an entrepreneur
after starting his own auto
repair business. In 2018 he
moved back to Georgia. He
attended New Lincoln
Park A.M.E. Church and
was very faithful until the
pandemic.
He is survived by one
daughter, Mrs. Doris
(Ronnie) Holloway of
Thomaston; two sons, Mr.
Leroy (Denise) Dawson of
Los Angeles, Calif, and Mr.
John Alton (Ann) Dawson
of Thomaston; nine grand
children; 17 great-grand
children; and 14
great-great-grandchildren;
one sister, Mrs. Lula Mae
Riley of Butler; and a host
of nieces, nephews, cous
ins, and other relatives
and friends.

Mrs. Virginia Pitts
Lynch, age 84, of Thomas
ton, died Wednesday, Oct.
6, 2021, at Riverside
Health and Rehab. Grave
side memorial services will
be held Friday, Oct. 15, at
2 p.m. at Southview Cem
etery, with Rev. Bill Barber
officiating.
Mrs. Lynch, a native
Upsonian, was born July
22,1937, to the late Robert
J. Pitts and Edna Pilken-
ton Pitts. She was a gradu
ate of R.E. Lee Institute
and was retired from
Upson Regional Medical
Center. Mrs. Lynch was a
member of First Baptist
Church of Thomaston.
In addition to her par
ents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, Le-
vann Lynch; a sister,
Wilma Hooper; and a
brother Robert C. Pitts.
Mrs. Lynch is survived
by a son, Lee (Jeannette)
Lynch of Rio Rancho,
N.M.; two daughters,
Kathy (John) Gish of
Thomaston and Debbie
(Mitch) Waddell of Ft.
Worth, Texas; 10 grand
children and six great
grandchildren also
survive.

Mr. Clayton "Ko-Jack"
Pollard, Jr. of Thomaston,
age 45, died Thursday,
Oct. 7, 2021 at Wellstar
Kennestone Hospital in
Marietta.
Mr. Pollard was born
June 8, 1976 in Thomas
ton, to Clayton Floyd Pol
lard Sr. and Janice Raybon
Pollard. He worked for
Georgia Department of
Transportation in road
maintenance and attended
Northridge Church.
Survivors include his
father, Clayton (Sherrie)
Pollard, Sr. of Covington;
mother, Janice Pollard of
Thomaston; wife, Gina
Pollard of Thomaston;
sons, Dylan Floyd Pollard
and Cameron Pollard,
both of Thomaston;
brother, Andy (Janet) Pol
lard of Thomaston; special
friend, Angie McWaters;
and numerous aunts and
uncles.
Graveside services
were held Sunday, Oct. 10,
from Upson Memorial
Gardens.

Mrs. Annie Grace
Grantling Price, age 68, of
Avenue D, passed Thurs
day, Oct. 7, 2021.
Funeral services were
held Monday, Oct. 11, at
Mary Lizzie Baptist
Church. Pastor McArthur

by Evangelist Wanda Petty
and Evangelist Sandra T.
Trice. Interment was in
Southview Cemetery.
Annie Grace was edu
cated in the public schools
of Upson County and at
tended Drake High School.
In high school she excelled
in basketball and softball
and was the head major
ette for Drake High School
band. She was a former
employee of Thomaston
Mills.
Annie Grace coached
recreation basketball and
softball for the Thomaston
Housing Authority. Many
of the children she
coached went on to be
come excellent players in
high school. Annie Grace
was a member of Mary
Lizzie Baptist Church,
where she sang in the
choir.
She was survived by
her husband, Mr. Willie
Price of Thomaston; five
children, Lakeitha (Jo
seph) Brown, Katriana
Lamar (Chancey), Rhon-
dalynn Traylor (David),
Jacqueline (Bryant) Dan
iel, and Latroy Brown, all
of Thomaston; grandchil
dren she raised as her
own, Terrell Terry, O'Qua-
lon Harris, Joseph Brown,
Jr., Ty'Qualyn Traylor,
Cynthia Davis, Shirley
Grantling, Charles Grant
ling, Jr., Cathy Johnson,
and Sylvia Johnson; seven
other grandchildren,
Bra’Yuanna Daniel,
Laquentin Lamar, Joshua
Brown, Triona Webb, An-
toneonia Cleveland, Alon-
zeonia Ellison,
Taykizzalynn Jordan, and
Aikilyn Dozier; 15 great

Howard Smith
Mrs. Maxine Howard
Smith of Barnesville, age
102, passed away Friday
Oct. 8, 2021 at Sunny
Grove Assisted Living in
Barnesville.
Mrs. Smith was born
May 19, 1919 in Rokford,
Ill., to the late Stanley
Howard and to the late
Anna Heise. She served
her country in the U.S.
Army during WWII as a
nurse. After the military
she worked as a nurse
anesthetist.
In addition to her par
ents, she was preceded in
death by her husband,
M.W. "Mickey" Smith.
Survivors include her
sons, Rev. David (Jeanine)
Smith of Griffin and Dr.
Howard (Glina) Smith of
Thomaston; five grand
children; and five great
grandchildren.
The family will hold a
private memorial service
at a later date.
