Mrs. Pamela "Pam"
English Coonrod, age 67, of
Thomaston, died Saturday,
Oct. 16, 2021, at Upson Re
gional Medical Center.
Memorial services for
Mrs. Coonrod were held at
Mountain View Baptist
Church Saturday, Oct. 23,
with Dr. Ryan Christopher
and Rev. Chet Yates offici
ating.
Mrs. Coonrod was born
March 26, 1954, in Kent
County, Ky., to the late
Markland English and Ruth
Agnes Wilcher English. She
was retired from Walmart,
where she worked as a cake
decorator in the bakery.
She was a caregiver for
many children, and she
loved her family dearly. She
always enjoyed helping
others. Her sons referred to
her as "the warden," but
she was a loving LaLa to
her grandchildren. She was
a faithful Christian.
In addition to her par
ents and several siblings,
Mrs. Coonrod was pre
ceded in death by her hus
band, Alfred "Butch"
Coonrod, I.
She is survived by her
four sons, Steven Charles
Coonrod, Heithcliffe Alex
ander Coonrod (Gracie Zol-
man), Alfred Boyd
"Freddy" Coonrod, II, and
Myles Sebastian (Serena)
Coonrod, ah of Thomaston;
two sisters, Gail Johnson

NOTICE OF ELECTION TO THE
QUALIFIED VOTERS OF UPSON
COUNTY, GEORGIA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 2 day of November, 2021 an
election will be held at the regular polling places in all the election districts of
Upson County, Georgia (the “County”), at which time there will be submitted to
the qualified voters of the County for their determination the question of whether
a one percent county special purpose local option sales and us tax (the
“SPLOST”) shall be reimposed on all sales and uses in the special district created
in the County for a period of six (6) years for the raising of approximate
$23,400,000 for the purpose of funding capital outlay projects (the “Projects”)
specified in the form of the ballot set forth below.
BALLOT
“Shall a special one percent sales and use tax be reimposed in
the special district of Upson county for a period of time not to ex
ceed 6 years or 24 quarters and for raising an estimated amount
of $23,400,000 for the purpose of (1) funding the following proj
ects for Upson County: (A) acquiring , constructing and improv
ing County facilities, including judicial, administrative, civic,
recreational, airport, and jail facilities, (B) roads streets and
bridges, (C) vehicle procurement and replacement, including
Sheriffs department, (D) machinery and heavy equipment for
repairs and maintenance of roads, streets and bridges and other
government facilities, (E) machinery and heavy equipment for
repairs and maintenance of water and sewer facilities, and (F)
office equipment, IT and telecommunications upgrades; (2) fund
ing the following projects for the City of Thomaston: (A) acqui
sition of rights of way for roads, streets and bridges, and
expansion, modernization, maintenance, construction and im
provement of roads, streets, and bridges, (B) water and sewer
expansion, modernization or improvements, (C) electrical sys
tem expansion, modernization or improvements, and (D) acqui
sition, construction, modernization and improvement of
municipal-owned facilities, parks, vehicles and equipment; and
(3) funding the following projects for the city of Yatesville: (A)
water system upgrades, (B) repaving and resurfacing of roads
and bridges, and (C) recreation facilities improvements, includ
ing ball parks and pavilions?”
The several places for holding said election shall be at the regular and established
voting precincts of the election districts of Upson County, Georgia, and the polls
will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the date fixed for the election.
The last day to register for this election shall be October 4, 2021.
Those residents of Upson County qualified to vote at said election shall be deter
mined in all respects in accordance with the election laws of the State of Geor
gia.
This notice is given pursuant to a resolution of Upson County, Georgia and a res
olution of the Upson County Board of Elections and Registration.

Mr. Gregory Alvah
O'Neal, age 68, of Thomas
ton, died Monday, Oct. 18,
2021, at Renaissance
Health Care in Griffin.
Mr. O'Neal was born
March 12,1953, in Thomas
ton to the late Franklin
Alvah O'Neal and Nadine
Storey O'Neal. He was a
professor at Southern Cres
cent Technical College.
He is survived by his
daughter, Ashlee O'Neal of
Athens; sister, Cindi O'Neal
of Gainsville; brother, Tim
(Lisa) O'Neal of Thomas
ton; grandson, Caiden Lilli-
bridge; and several nieces.
Funeral services for Mr.
O'Neal were held Saturday,
Oct. 23, in the chapel of
Coggins Funeral Home.
Burial followed in Crystal
Hill Cemetery.

He was born in Thom
aston May 16, 1957, son of
the late Joe Reese and

Lamar worked for Reddick
Construction for more than
20 years. He enjoyed riding
his Harley Davidson mo
torcycle and canoeing down
the Flint River.
He is survived by his

and Rodney Jimmy Clay;

two brothers and five

day, Oct. 14, 2021.

Sandra T. Trice officiated.
Ms. Swopes was born
and raised in Dayton, Ohio.
She graduated from Trot-
wood-Madison High
School in Dayton. She
moved to Thomaston in
2001. She was employed by
CoWorx in McDonough.
She is survived by her
mother, Mrs. Mattie R.
Johnson, and one daugh
ter, Ms. Destiny Swopes,
both of Thomaston; three
sisters, Ms. Betty Upshaw
of Dayton, Ohio, Ms. Janice
Searcy of Thomaston, and
Ms. Robin Swopes of Yulee,
Fla.; four brothers, Mr. Ty
rone (Donna) Searcy, Mr.
Gary (Michelle) Searcy, and
Mr. Teodore Searcy, all of
Dayton, Ohio, and Ms.

Mr. Trawick was born in
Thomaston Nov. 23, 1944,
to the late Curtis Leroy and
Lolla Idell Bloodworth Tra
wick. He attended East
Thomaston Grammar
School and was a graduate
of R.E. Lee Institute. After
graduation he worked
briefly for Thomaston Mills
before joining the U.S. Air
Force in 1965. He retired in
1985 as a master sergeant
with 20-years of service.
While serving his coun
try, Mr. Trawick earned the
Air Force Commendation
Medal with two oak leaf
clusters, the Armed Forces
Expeditionary Medal, the
National Defense Service
Medal, the Air Force out
standing unit award, and
an Air Force good conduct
medal. Mr. Trawick was of
the Baptist faith.
In addition to his par
ents, Mr. Trawick was pre
ceded in death by his wife
of 23 years, Kyong Cha Tra
wick.
He is survived by two
daughters and sons-in-law,
Stephanie and James Be-
ment of Nashville, Tenn.
and Naomi and Ross Hen
son of Covington; a sister,
Phoeba Kent of Salisbury,
N.C.; a brother, Roger Tra
wick of Thomaston; two
granddaughters, Ariel
Gaddy and Lily Henson;
and three nieces, Rosemary
Kent, Martha Forrest, and
Jackie Leonard, all of North
Carolina.

Farron “Bubba”

Farron “Bubba” Carl
Wilson, age 67, of Thomas
ton, died Sunday, Oct. 17,
2021 at his residence.
A native of Americus, he
was born March 12, 1954,
to the late William and
Mildred Wilson. He was a
member of Smyrna Baptist
Church. Farron was an avid
hunter and fisherman. He
would also participate in
BBQ and cooking competi
tions. He even considered
himself a pool shark. Far
ron enjoyed the competi
tion and thrills of life.
Funeral services were
held at Greg Hancock Fu
neral Chapel Thursday,
Oct. 21, with Pastor Tony
West and Pastor Richard
Massey officiating. Inter
ment followed at Sunset
Memorial Gardens. Pall
bearers were Shaun Wil
son, Blake Smith, Justin
Burks, Richie Guy, Nick
Massey, and Roy Massey.
Survivors include his
wife of 45 years, Priscilla
Ann Wilson of Thomaston;
son and daughter-in-law,
Farron and Jessica Wilson
of Thomaston; two daugh
ters and son-in-law, Farr ah
Wilson and Richie Guy of
Thomaston and Sheena
and Blake Smith of Thom
aston; nine grandchildren
and two great-grandchil
dren; two brothers and
sisters-in-law, William and
Susan Wilson, Jr. of Amer
icus and Darrin and Janna

sisters and brother-in-law,
Cheryl “Sissy” Franklin of

death by a brother Daniel
Wilson.
