URMC Welcomes
Dr. Moore to Upson
Family Physicians
By: Rev. Dean Hemphill
Clarks Chapel
Baptist Church
176 Mathis Lake Rd.
Thomaston, GA 30286
Some seven years ago, liquor by
the drink was voted on and there
were not enough people to vote
against it. Some four years ago,
package sale on Sunday was voted in, because only 150
people turned out to say, “No.” Sunday sale of alcoholic bev
erages was voted in because only 146 people tuned out to say,
“No.”
Now we are in the midst of voting package stores for the
city and how many do you think will turn out and vote, “No?”
The city is filled with churchgoing people who will not take
the time to even pray about this. What do you think God will
say if we ask Him how should we vote?
The society that we live in today has to do somewhat with
how professing Christians have not stood up and spoken up
through the years. Professing Christians say they don’t want
to get involved, or if people don’t buy alcohol here, they will
buy it somewhere else, or we will have more restaurants and
more industry, or we’ll have more parks, or our taxes will be
lower.
Christians are not to think as the world thinks, we have
the Word of God that we are to go by, and attempting to ride
the fence when it comes to what the Word of God says we are
to do, will never work.
Selling alcohol on every corner has ruined every com
munity that has welcomed it and our community is headed
in the same direction. All because there are not enough Chris
tians to turn out to vote. While most of the people in this
world are going to hell, most Christians are doing nothing.
