Mrs. Doris
Bankston Allen
Mrs. Doris Bankston
Allen, age 96, of Thomas-
ton, died Thursday, Nov. 4,
2021, at Riverside Health
and Rehab. Funeral serv
ices for Mrs. Allen were
held on Sunday, Nov. 7, at
2:30 p.m. at First United
Methodist Church of Bar-
nesville. Dr. Cyndi McDon
ald and Dr. Rex King
officiated, and burial was in
Lamar Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Allen was born
Sept. 8,1925, to the late Ar
thur Roy Bankston and
Bessie Mae Waller Bank
ston. She was a 1942 grad
uate of Zebulon High
School and retired with 33
years of service from Wil
liam Carter Company.
Mrs. Allen had been a
member of First United
Methodist Church of Bar-
nesville since 1962, where
she sang in the choir until
she was 90 years old.
In addition to her par
ents, Mrs. Allen was pre
ceded in death by her
husband, William D. "Bill"
Allen, Sr., whom she mar
ried in 1943; her son, Wil
liam D. "Bill" Allen, Jr.; a
sister; and four brothers.
She is survived by four
children, Anne (Michael)
Lavoie of Peachtree
Corners, Sue (Ron) Corley
of McDonough, Tommy
(Brenda) Allen of Thomas-
ton, and Debbie (Bill)
Wheeless of Thomaston; a
daughter-in-law, Janice
Allen of Meansville; eight
grandchildren; and 12
great-grandchildren. Sev
eral nieces and nephews
also survive.

Mrs. Linda F. Booth
Mrs. Linda F. Booth,
age 74, of Thomaston, died
Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at
her residence.
Mrs. Booth was born
July 9, 1947, in Portsm
outh, Va., to the late Mary
Benton Fox. She worked as
an EKG technician at
Maryview Hospital in
Portsmouth.
In addition to her
mother, she was preceded
in death by her husband,
James Booth; brother, Hil
ton Roughton, Jr; niece,
Kim Wilson; and cousin,
Pat Boomhower.
Survivors include her
son, David Wayne Rough-
ton; sisters, Mary Ann
Roughton of Thomaston
and Carol Ussery of Thom
aston; nephews, Preston
Wilson and Scott Wilson;
cousins, Theresa, Irene,
Herb; uncle, Eddie Boom
hower; and best friend,
Nancy.
It was Mrs. Booth's
wish to be cremated and
her family will have cele
bration of life at a later
date.

Mr. Roy Monroe
Bryant, age 76, of Thomas
ton, died Thursday, Nov. 4,
2021, at Upson Regional
Medical Center.
Mr. Bryant was born
March 31, 1945, in Thom
aston, to the late Monroe
Bryant and to the late Mar
tha Jones Bryant Gibson.
He worked in construction
and was a member of
Smyrna Baptist Church.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, Doug
and Martha Gibson.
Survivors include his
wife, Mary Sellars Bryant of
Thomaston; daughter,
Faye (Danny) Mewbourn
of Thomaston; son, Bo
Bryant of Thomaston;
grandchildren, Barbie
(Will) Stevens, Keline
(Anne) Jones, Stella Woolf,
LeeRoy Jones, Sean
(Angel) Bryant, Josh
(Chasity) Bryant; and 10
great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were
held Saturday, Nov. 6, from
Smyrna Baptist Church

Michael Elder (Mike D)
Daniel, age 33, of Thomas
ton, passed away Oct. 31,
2021.
Michael was born
March 25, 1988. He grew
up in Thomaston and grad
uated from Upson-Lee
High School. He was a
knife maker and owned his
own company, Elder’s
Knife Works, where he
crafted custom chef knives
and kitchen knives. Mi
chael was a member of Mt.
View Baptist Church. He
enjoyed riding his BMX
bike and playing the banjo.
He was preceded in death
by his father, Doug Hol
loway.
He is survived by his
mother, Lisa Daniel Quin
ton (Joe) of Thomaston;
sisters and a brother, Ash-
lee Quinton, Jonathan Hol
loway, and Jennifer
Holloway; nephew, Reid
Quinton-McChargue;
grandparents, Linda Daniel
and Travis Elder Daniel,
both of Thomaston; uncle,
Jay Byars (Jesse); and nu
merous aunts, uncles, and
cousins.

Mrs. Irvin were held Sun
day, Nov. 7, at Southview
Cemetery, with Rev. Andy
Cunningham officiating.
Mrs. Irvin was born in
Thomaston Oct. 24, 1930,
to the late Clio Gray
Beverly and Elna Ruth
Rogers Beverly. She was a
1947 graduate of R.E. Lee
Institute, attended Georgia
Southwestern College
(1947-1949), earned a
bachelor’s degree in educa
tion from Georgia State
College for Women (1954),
and earned her graduate
degree from the University
of Georgia (1956).
She retired in July 1992,
after completing a career of
30 years. She taught kin
dergarten in Thomaston
City Schools (1949-1954),
second and third grades in
Barrow School of Athens
(1954-1956), second grade
at Yatesville School (1969-
1971), and sixth grade at
R.E. Lee Jr. Institute (1971-
1992). She was Teacher of
the Year in the Thomaston
City School System in 1985.
Mrs. Irvin was a
member of the Thomaston-
Upson Retired Educators
Association, a life member
of the Georgia Retired Edu
cators Association, a past
member of Delta Kappa
Gamma (an organization
for women educators). She
was a past president of the
LaGrange Junior Woman's
Club, and she was a
member of the Upson Re
gional Medical Center Aux
iliary, where she served on
the yearbook committee
and was co-chairman of the
Lights for Life project. She
had also served on the
Thomaston Historic Pres
ervation Commission.
Mrs. Irvin was a long
time member of First Bap
tist Church of Thomaston,
where she taught Sunday
school for more than 20
years.
In addition to her par
ents, Mrs. Irvin was pre
ceded in death by her
husband, Melvin Kash
Irvin; a daughter, Beverly
Irvin DuPree; a sister,
Agnes Grace Beverly Harp;
and a brother, James An
derson Beverly.
She is survived by her
daughter, Barbara Irvin
(Bill) Andrews of Thomas
ton; her son, Mark M.
(Lauri) Irvin, of Thomas
ton; six grandchildren,
Mandy Dimling, Elise
(K.J.) Delli-Gatti, Mary
Ann (Seth) Coker, John
Mathis, Ann Margaret
Irvin, and Caroline Irvin;
and seven great-grandchil
dren. Several nieces and
nephews also survive.
In lieu of flowers, the
family requests that memo

to First Baptist Church of
Thomaston and designated
for either the Pass the Salt
ministry or the TV mini
stry.

Mr. Ronnie Jordan, age
69, of Oak Ridge Drive,
passed Tuesday, Nov. 2,
2021 at Upson Regional
Medical Center.
Memorial services were
held Friday, Nov. 5, in the
George E. Trice Jr. Memo
rial Chapel. Minister
Brenda Gates officiated, as
sisted by Pastor Melvin
Colbert and Evangelist
Sandra T. Trice.
Mr. Jordan attended
Crawford County School
System. He was a member
of Jordan Grove Baptist
Church in Roberta. He was
formerly employed by
Thomaston Mills.
He is survived by his
wife, Mrs. Bennie Lue Rou-
seau Jordan of Thomaston;
three children, Mr. Rou-
seau Jordan of Thomaston,
Ms. Andrea Seay of Warner
Robins, and Ms. Lillian
Jordan of Macon; three
grandchildren also sur
vived; one sister, Mrs. War-
dell (Sammie) Willis of
Talbotton; two brothers,
Mr. Milton (Lisa) Jordan of
Sanford, Fla. and Mr.
Roosevelt (Sherryl) Jordan
of Alberdeen, Md.; one
uncle, Mr. Tommie Lee
Holt of Sanford, Fla.; sister
and brothers-in-law, Mr.
Roy Rouseau and Mr. Ross
(Bettie Sue) Rouseau, all of
Thomaston; and a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins,
and other relatives and
friends.

Mrs. Betty Frances
Short, age 81, of Thomas
ton, died Monday, Nov. 8,
2021, at Navicent Health in
Macon. Graveside funeral
services for Mrs. Short
were held Wednesday,
Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. in Upson
Memorial Gardens, with
Rev. Mickey Corley officiat
ing.
Mrs. Short was born
Feb. 16, 1940, in Hollon-
ville, Pike County. She was
retired from B. F. Goodrich
Martha Mills, where she
worked as a spooler.
She was a piano teacher
and also kept children in
her home. Mrs. Short was a
member of Holy Ground
Worship Center until it
closed, and later she be
came a media member of
Family Worship Center in
Baton Rouge, La.
Mrs. Short was pre
ceded in death by her hus
band, Larry E. Short; her
mother, Etta Maude
Garner; a daughter, Lisa
McKissick; and a brother,
Willie Ray Garner.
She is survived by three
children, Judy (Mike)
Cooper of Smyrna, Richard
Stephen (Jackie) Pitts of
Thomaston, and Christy
Short of Virginia; a sister,
Jeanette (Hugh) Fleming
of Thomaston; two
brothers, Jerry Garner and
Lamar Garner, both of
Thomaston; seven grand
children, Kenny Heaton,
Catherine Grimm, Richard
Stephen Pitts, Jr., Step
hanie Chambers, Stephen
