2021-22 ULE Poetry Competition Winners
Students at Upson-Lee Middle and Elementary Schools recently competed in the annual poetry
competition. Winners will represent their schools in the system literacy competition on Jan. 13.
In third grade, Trinity Dixon won first place, Emma Dunn In fourth grade, Ella Creamer won first place, Marley
(not pictured) won second, and Calleigh Waddell won third. Sparks won second, and Quinn Clarke won third.
In fifth grade, Alaina Worthy won first place, Christopher Scroggins won second, and Frederic Cotton won third.
In sixth grade, Emma Goen won first place
and Ethan Evans won second.

from Augusta University
this December, special
izing in nursing anesthe
sia. Dr. Brittany Darnell
previously received a
bachelor’s degree in
nursing from Auburn
University, while her
husband had previously
received bachelor’s and
master’s degrees in nurs
ing from Augusta Univer
sity.

Griffin and will work for
Sentry Anesthesia Man
agement as certified reg
istered nurse
anesthetists, primarily at
Wellstar Spalding Re
gional Hospital.

Chastity Smith of
Thomaston was recently
initiated into The Honor
Society of Phi Kappa Phi,
the nation's oldest and
most selective all-dis
cipline collegiate honor
society. Smith was initi
ated at University of West
Georgia.
Only the top 10 percent
of seniors and 7.5 percent
of juniors are eligible for
membership. Graduate
students in the top 10 per
cent of the number of can
didates for graduate
degrees may also qualify,
as do faculty, professional
staff, and alumni who
have achieved scholarly
distinction.
Amanda Kay Jeffrey
was recently named to the
Dean’s List at Brewton-
Parker College in Mount
Vernon.
