Ms. Connie Watson
Adams, age 69, of Thom-
aston, died Thursday, Dec.
23, 2021, at Upson Re
gional Medical Center.
Graveside services for
Ms. Adams were held Sun
day, Dec. 26, at Friendship
Primitive Baptist Church
Cemetery. Rev. Jason
Weeks officiated.
Ms. Adams was born in
Thomaston March 19,
1952, a daughter of the late
Asa C. Watson and the late
Ludie Hudson Watson.
She was a 1970 graduate of
R.E. Lee Institute and later
graduated from Columbus
State University with a
master’s degree in educa
tion in 1981. She was em
ployed by the
Thomaston-Upson County
School System for seven
years, Flint River Techni
cal College for 12 years,
and later retired from Au
gusta Technical College
after 10 years.
She enjoyed travelling.
She visited Venezuela,
Germany, Switzerland,
Italy, Austria, and various
places in South America.
She attended Fellowship
Baptist Church.
Ms. Adams is survived
by her sons whom she
loved very much, George
(Lindsey) Adams and Ben
Adams, all of Thomaston;
siblings include her sister,
Pasty Watson and her
brother, Robert (Tonya)
Watson, both of Ellijay;
her grandchildren, Aubrey
Adams and Wyatt Adams;
and her nieces and
nephews, Jenny Watson,
Bobbie Jo White, Dixie
Sanford, Robbie Watson,
and Riley Watson. In ad
dition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by
her brother, Terry Watson.

Mr. James Madison
Barron, age 93, of Mari
etta, died Saturday, Dec.
18, 2021, at his residence.

ices for Mr. Barron were
held Thursday, Dec. 23,
2021, in Glenwood Ceme
tery with Pastor Jereme
Chaney officiating.
Mr. Barron was born in
Thomaston, Aug. 15,1928,
to the late Alvah Votelle
Barron and Ruby Elling
ton Barron. He earned a
bachelor’s of business ad
ministration degree and
was retired as a flight engi
neer for the US Air Force
Reserve.
Mr. Barron is survived
by a daughter, Mary (Ken
neth) Samples; a son, Paul
Barron of Milton; a sister,
Betty Barron Hayes of Dal
las, Texas; three grand
children, Joshua Madison
(Amy) Samples, George
Samuel Barron and Jack
McLane Barron; and two
great grandchildren,
Caden Samples and Emma
Skye Samples. In addition
to his parents, he was pre
ceded in death by his wife,
Elsie Stanley Barron.

Mr. James Alton
Bland, age 90, of Thomas
ton, died Monday, Dec. 27,
2021, at his residence.
Funeral services for
Mr. Bland will be held
Thursday, Dec. 30, at 2
p.m., in the chapel of
Fletcher-Day Funeral
Home. Dr. Rex King will
officiate, and burial will
follow in Upson Memorial
Gardens. The family will
receive friends Thursday
from 1 p.m. until the serv
ice hour.
Mr. Bland was born
June 21,1931, in Thomas
ton, to the late Harvey
Bland and Geanie Belle
Allmond Bland. He was a
graduate of R. E. Lee Insti
tute and served his coun
try in the U. S. Air Force,
stationed with the military
police in England. He was
retired from Federal Paper
Board Company and was a
member of Mountain View
Baptist Church.
In addition to his par
ents, Mr. Bland was pre
ceded in death by his wife,
Rachel Janelle Thomason
Bland; and two sisters,
Barbara Jones Lowry and
Faye Jones Talley. Survi
vors include his two
daughters, Dana (Greg)
Fowler of Thomaston and
Renee (Kevin) Arnold of
Newnan; one sister, Eliza
beth (Dan) Witty of Spring
Hill, Fla.; three grandsons,
Ansley (Laura) Fowler of
Tiger, Austin Waddle of
Denver, Colo., and Dalton
Arnold of Newnan; two
great grandchildren,
Barnes Fowler and Elea
nor Grace Fowler, both of
Tiger; two brothers-in-
law, Steve (Grace) Thoma
son of San Antonio, Texas
and Dennis (Ann) Thoma
son of Memphis, Tenn.
Several nieces and
nephews also survive.

Mr. Emory Brazil
Mr. Emory Brazil, age
64, of Searcy Road passed
Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at
Upson Regional Medical
Center.
Funeral services were
held Thursday, Dec. 23, at
George E. Trice, Jr. Me
morial Chapel. Pastor
Rickey Wright officiated,
assisted by Pastor Ralph
Searcy, Pastor Honkeith-
viles Respress and Evan
gelist Sandra T. Trice.
Interment was in Welcome
Grove Cemetery.
He was educated in the
Upson County School Sys
tem and graduated from
R.E. Lee Institute where
he excelled in basketball.
He furthered his studies at
Iowa State College and
Flint River Technical
School. He was employed
later by Thomaston Mills.
He was a gifted mechanic
and used his talent to help
many in Thomaston,
Upson and surrounding
counties. Emory was a
member of the Welcome
Grove Baptist Church.
He was survived by
three daughters, Mrs. De-
brecia (Aduayi) Akouete-
Akue of Griffin, Mrs.
Crendon (Maurice) Corbin
of Macon, and Ms. Cressli
Brazil of Thomaston; six
grandchildren, Caeland
Calvin, Kanye Smith, C.J.
Corbin, Jy Lockett, Ka'La-
nia Brazil and Auriel Web;
three sisters, Mrs. Jose
phine (Don) Henderson of
Thomaston, Mrs. Annie
Lois (Melvin) Blasingame
of Roberta, and Mrs. Kath
erine Yates of Thomaston;
three brothers, Mr. Glin-
ton Brazil of Atlanta, Mr.
Charles (Rachael) Brazil
and Mr. Ervin (Vivian)
Brazil both of Thomaston;
a devoted friend, Ms.
Joyce Seay of Thomaston;

Dunn, age 51, of Thomas
ton, died Dec. 5, 2021, at
her residence. No services

Ms. Dunn was born
Sept. 21, 1970, to the late
Richard and Lounell
Burns. She was retired
from Publix Supermarket.
Survivors include her
daughter, Mira Grace
Dunn of Thomaston; her
son, Bo Dunn of Haines,
Alaska; and her sister,
Teresa Rodry of Ft. Lau
derdale, Fla.

Mrs. Linda Merchant
Mrs. Linda Merchant,
age 67, of Thomaston,
passed away Sunday, Dec.
26, 2021 at Eternal Hope
Hospice in Griffin.
Mrs. Merchant was
born July 10,1954, in Bar-
nesville, to the late William
"Red" Littlejohn and the
late Myrtice Conkle Little
john. She worked in the
receiving department at
Quad Graphics for 27
years, and was a member
of Milner Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death
by her daughter, Jerri
Dawson; sisters, Patricia
Wiggins and Donna Sue
Littlejohn.
Survivors include her
husband, Johnnie Mer
chant of Thomaston;
adopted son, Jason Leavitt
of Wisconsin; brothers,
Bennett (Cheryl) Dix, Gary
"Dinkey" Littlejohn of Bar
nes ville, John Robert
(Yvonne) Littlejohn of Lo

Watson, age 81, of Thom

urday, Dec. 25, 2021 at her
residence.
Mrs. Watson was born
June 16, 1940 in Clinton,
Tenn., to the late Mary
Powell Cox. She worked for
Wes Tek Mill for many
years. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded
in death by her brothers,
L.A. and Dan Kirby.
Survivors include her
husband, William Watson;
daughters, Donna (Den
nis) Fouts, Tracy (Jay)
Watson, and Crystal
(Scott) Collins; sons, Den
nis (Lora) Watson and
Danny (Connie) Watson;
brothers, David (Peggy)
Kirby and Bobby Cox;
sisters, Janice Hicks and
Ann Wells; caregiver,
Christie Lyons; grandson,
Brandon Collins along with
seven grandchildren and
eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were
held Tuesday, Dec. 28,
from the Chapel of Coggins
Funeral Home. Burial fol
lowed in Zion’s Chapel
Church Cemetery.
