p.m. Aug. 17. The food
trucks will be located

vendors, inflatables, face
painting, balloon animals,
corn hole and the
Amicalola Regional
Farmers Market will be
among the festivities.The
event will be held weather

training class on how to
save endangered Hemlock

cacy group will offer free
educational classes for
family and friends of indi
viduals living with a men
tal illness. The local affili

Alliance on Mental Illness,

family-to-family program

Cumming. The 11-week
program will continue at
the same time and loca
tion on Monday nights

Ninth District
Opportunity will soon
begin the annual Energy
Assistance Program
(LIHEAP), where citizens
can apply for assistance
with home heating bills.
Appointments can be
scheduled beginning Nov.
1 and is open only to
seniors 65 and older and
shut-ins of any age. All
those who do not meet
the above criteria will be
able to call on Dec. 1 to
schedule their appoint
ments.The Georgia
Department of Human
Services will help pay the
heating costs for gas or
electric for eligible appli
cants.
The next Pups in the
Park Dog Show and
Festival, hosted by the
Dawson County Humane
Society, is scheduled for
April 13, 2019.The event
will be held from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m. at Rock Creek
Park.The society is looking
for vendors for the event
and is accepting open
market merchandise such
as homemade jelly, bak

The screening covers five
areas of developmental

nitive skills. Parents must
be residents of Dawson
