Dawson in top 25 in state in graduation rate
From staff reports
Dawson County High School’s four-
year graduation rate of 94.7 percent for
the class of 2018 ranks Dawson County
Schools as one of the top 25 systems in
the state, according to the Georgia
Department of Education.
On Sept. 19, the GDOE released infor
mation on the four-year cohort graduation
rates across the state. The four-year
cohort graduation rate is the percentage of
students who entered the ninth grade in
2014-2015 and graduated four years later
in May of 2018.
Dawson County High School’s 94.7
percent graduation rate exceeds the state
rate of 81.6 percent by 13.1 percent.
Over the last six years, the school dis
trict’s graduation rate has increased from
79.85 percent in 2012 to 94.7 percent in
2018, according to the school district.
“Increasing the school district’s gradua
tion rate is a team effort by our adminis
trators, teachers, counselors, graduation
coach, social workers, nurses, community
partners and all other support personnel
who work with students and families on a
daily basis,” a release from the school sys
tem reads. “Graduation for all students is
the ultimate goal of Dawson County
Schools. The district is committed to pro
viding students with an exemplary educa
tional experience that prepares students to
be college and career ready upon gradua
tion.”
