together five wins, out of six

regional title on their way to
the state finals.
“The past weekend at state
still feels like a dream. The
whole team pulled together and
put out a perfect performance
for the very last time,” Barker

have asked for a better way to
end my cheer career.”
Head Coach Kim Fleming

sight. This group of athletes
were truly determined to reach
the top.”

School Association football playoff’s
got underway on Friday as the Dawson
County Tigers (No. 2, 3AAA) hosted
the Haralson County Rebels (No. 3,
6AAA) at Tiger Stadium in
Dawsonville.
Featuring two high-powered rushing
attacks the teams combined for 66
points in a wild game that ended with
the Tigers advancing to the second
round with a 44-22 victory over the
Rebels that was much closer than the
final score indicated.
Led by the state’s top rusher Treylon
Sheppard, who came into the game as
the fastest back to rush for more than
2,000 yards in state history with a total
of 2,874 yards on the season, the Rebels
immediately began pounding the ball
into the middle of the Tigers defensive
line on their opening drive.
Knowing the threat, the Tigers
defense, led by junior Daniel Brock and
senior Logan Barnes (who combined
for 24 tackles on the night), forced an
opening three-and-out.

long touchdown run that gave them the
early lead halfway through the first
quarter at 8-0 after they successfully
converted the two-point play.

Starting just off the pole position in the
second slot Chase Elliott knew that he most
likely needed to win the
Can-Am 500 at the ISM
Raceway in Phoenix, AZ on
Sunday, Nov. 11 to claim his
spot in the Championship
Four of NASCAR’s Monster
Energy Cup Series.
After a drama filled week
in NASCAR that saw Kevin
Harvick docked 40 driver
points and stripped of his
win at Texas due to an illegally modified
spoiler discovered in the post-race inspection
there were suddenly three spots up for grabs
in next week’s final race at Homestead-
Mi ami.
Seventeen points below the cut-line, and
suddenly only 20 points behind Harvick,
Elliott pushed his #9 NAPA Autoparts car to
the limit, leading the race three times overall
