a.m. until noon. Nov. 15. The
fair is a great chance to meet
with hiring managers of over
15 local businesses includ

BTD Manufacturing, Express
Employment Professionals,
Ga. Department of Trans
portation, GA Highlands
Medical Services, Gym-
boree, Modern Woodmen
of America, Panera Bread,
ResCare, Synergy Homecare
and many more who will
conduct interviews on site.
There is no cost to partici
pate. The center is inside the
Goodwill store at 66 S. 400
Center Lane, Dawsonville.

unit will also be onsite to
offer resume assistance and
skills assessments. All job
fair participants will receive
a coupon for 25 percent off
at the Dawsonville Goodwill

Breakfast with Santa, a
one-stop-shop for Christ
mas family fun, will be held
from 8 to 11 a.m. Dec. 1 at
Rock Creek Park. Kids can
visit with Santa and have
photos taken, eat breakfast
and enjoy fun activities
and vendors. Admission
is free and free activities
include coloring, goody
bags, candy/toys/prizes and
an inflatable bounce house.
Available for purchase will
be breakfast, photos with
Santa, live Christmas Trees
from Bradley’s Christmas
Trees, wreaths, horse-drawn
carriage rides, Paparazzi
Jewelry and Taekwondo
registration. Cash only.

The 6th annual Christmas
Parade, Tree Lighting and
Jingle Market in downtown
Dawsonville is scheduled
for Dec. 1. The Jingle Mar
ket will be at the Georgia
Racing Hall of Fame and
feature local vendors selling
homemade gifts and crafts.
The parade begins at 5 p.m.,
beginning and ending at
the Georgia Racing Hall of
Fame, and the tree lighting
will follow at dusk. Food
trucks, pictures with Santa,
cookie decorating, dancing,
singing and more will begin
after the parade. The family-
friendly event is hosted
by the Dawson County
Chamber of Commerce,
Dawsonville City Hall and
the Georgia Racing Hall of
Fame. For more information

The Dawson County Tax
Commissioner’s Office is
hosting a fundraiser for Re
lay for Life from 8 to 10 a.m.
Feb. 16 at Applebee’s. Tickets
are $7 and include pancakes,
sausage and a drink to be
served by the “superhero”
staff of the tax commission
er’s office. Tickets are avail
able at the tax commission
er’s office, located on the first
floor of the Dawson County
Government Center at 25
Justice Way in Dawsonville.

OBITUARIES
Johnny L. Holtzclaw
Johnny L. Holtzclaw, 63,
of Dawsonville died Nov.
8,2018.
Bom June 8, 1955 to the
late Lester and Marcell
Holtzclaw, he had been a
resident of Dawsonville for
over 30 years after spend
ing a large part of his life
in Forsyth County. Johnny
worked as a carpenter and
for many years and was
employed by the Wallace
family at Country
Cupboard Food Stores
where he worked as a
maintenance tech and held
many certifications. A lov
ing and devoted husband,
father and grandfather, he
was lovingly known as
“Papa J”.
Surviving are his wife of
47 years, Varna Holtzclaw
of Dawsonville; children,
Johnny Holtzclaw, Adam
Holtzclaw, Tony and Elisha
Holtzclaw, all of
Dawsonville, Shana and
Pio Carreras of Nevada;
sisters and brothers in law,
Wansley and W.C. Parker
of Cleveland, Alice and
Mark West of Canton,
Dorothy and Gerry
Sullivan of Cumming,
Janice Holtzclaw of Villa
Rica, Tammie Hildebrant
of Dawsonville; brothers
and sister in law, Ray
Holtzclaw, Michael and
Sandy Holtzclaw, all of
Dawsonville; grandchil
dren, Samantha, Cynthia,
Kevin, Kailyn, Kyler,
Danielle, Karlee, Kristen,
Aiden, Zacchaeus, Josiah,
Cheyenne, Perry, Rebekah,
Parker, Mackennah; great
grandchildren, Brailyn,
Avia, Emberly, Jailyn,
Ariana; a number of niec
es, nephews and other rela
tives; various other rela
tives also survive.
Funeral services were
held at 2 p.m. Nov. 11 at
Bearden Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Brody
Hughes, Rev. John Nash
and Rev. Tony Holtzclaw
officiating. Interment fol
lowed in Coal Mountain
Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received
friends at the funeral home
from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Nov. 10 and on Sunday
from 10 a.m. until the hour
of service.
In lieu of flowers the
family requests donations
be made to the Pulmonary

Pat Jones
Pat Jones, 86, of Jasper,
died Nov. 7, 2018.
Mrs. Jones retired as a
teacher from the Dawson
County Board of
Education and was an
active member of Cool
Springs Baptist Church.
She enjoyed oil painting
and loved kids.
Her husband, Joe C.
Jones, preceded her in
death.
Survivors include her
children, A1 Kellogg
(Charlene), Chuck
Kellogg (Wanda), Andy
Kellogg (Michelle), Susie
Gouge and Joan Hughes
(Pete); 17 grandchildren;
a host of great-grandchil
dren; and several great-
great-grandchildren; vari
ous other relatives also
survive.
Funeral services were
held at 11 a.m. Nov. 10 in
the Sosebee Memorial
Chapel with Rev. Pete
Hughes and Rev. Bobby
McFarland officiating.
Interment followed in
Cool Springs Baptist
Church Cemetery.
The family received
friends from 11 a.m. to 9
p.m. Nov. 8, from 9 a.m.
to 9 p.m. on Nov. 9 and
from 9 a.m. until the ser
vice time Nov. 10 at the
funeral home

Sandra Kornewald
Sandra Kornewald, 75,
of Dawsonville, died Nov.
5,2018.
To all who knew her,
Sandy was a remarkable
and strong woman who
positively influenced
many lives, both young
and old. She was a leader,
a planner, an organizer
and a motivator. She was
fun loving and loyal.
She deeply loved her
family, her community
and her church and
worked hard to support
them. Being baptized in
her home church in
Decatur, Ill., was a high
light of Sandy’s life, and
an event that she shared
quite often.
When she and Dick
married in 1982, she felt
that her life was com
plete. She was a wonder
ful soul mate. Together
they made the world
around them a better
place. Sandy organized,
planned, motivated and
remained a faithful fol
lower to the end. She was
an inspiration to us all.
Survivors include her
loving husband Richard
“Dick” Kornewald; chil
dren, John Linton(Lori),
Monte Cater (Bonnie),
Gary Cater, Michael
Cater (Beverly); sisters,
Carol Sorum (Roland),
Sue Owens (Danny);
brother, Mark
Ketcherside ( Cheryl); 10
grandchildren; 13 great
grandchildren; numerous
nieces, nephews and
friends; various other rel
atives also survive.
A celebration of
Sandra’s life was held at
11 a.m. Nov. 10 in the
chapel of McDonald and
Son Funeral Home.

Medical Center Hospice
or St. Peter Lutheran
Church in Dahlonega.
