This summer, Dawson County
Parks and Rec is offering a myri
ad of camp opportunities that are
guaranteed to entertain local chil
dren of all ages and interests.
Here’s a look at which camps
will be offered when.
June 5 through 9:
All Sports Camp 1
What is it: All Sports Camp
will introduce campers to a vari
ety of sports at the introductory
level. Instructed by Ty Carnes,
the camp will focus on one main
sport (football, basketball, base
ball, soccer) each day along with
several secondary sports (tennis,
golf, running, volleyball, etc).
Campers will work on stretching
and form running each day to
ensure safety, and they will also
learn about teamwork, sports
manship and fair play. Campers
need to bring a snack, sack lunch
and water bottle with them to
camp each day.
Who can attend: The camp is
open to campers age five through
13.
When and where is it: The
camp will take place at Rock
Creek Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
each day from June 5 through 9.
How much is it: The camp
costs $135 per camper. Early
arrival at 8 a.m. and late pick-up
at 4 p.m. is available for an addi
tional $30.

June 12 through 15: Lady
Tigers Basketball Camp
What is it: Lady Tigers “Fun-
Damental” Basketball Camp will
teach skills in ball handling, pass
ing, rebounding, form shooting,
lay-ups, screen and rolls, offen
sive moves, speed/agility and
defense. Coached by Carly and
Will Anglin, the camp will also
include several competitions and
awards for one on one, free
throw, hotshot and best camper.
Who can attend: The camp is
open to campers age seven
through 15.
When and where is it: The
camp will take place at Rock
Creek Park from 9 a.m. to noon
each day from June 12 through
15.
How much is it: The camp
costs $85 per camper.

June 20 through 23:
All Sports Camp 2
What is it: All Sports Camp
will introduce campers to a vari

and 26 through 30:
Theater Camp
What is it: Hosted by
Mellodrama Productions, ’’High
School Musical, Jr.” theater camp
will give campers the chance to
participate in two weeks of camp
and a full weekend of perfor
mances. Scripts and costumes are
included. Campers will be danc
ing and need to wear comfortable
clothes and closed-toe shoes.
Campers need to bring a snack,
sack lunch and water bottle each
day.
Who can attend: The camp is
open to campers ages eight
through 18.
When and where is it: The
camp will take place at Rock
Creek Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
each day from June 20 to 23 and
June 26 through 30.
Performances will be on June 30,
July 1 and July 2.
How much is it: The camp
costs $300 for the first child, and
$250 for each additional child.
Costumes and souvenir scripts
that campers can keep are provid
ed. 8 a.m. arrival and 4 p.m. pick
up is available for an additional
$50, and optional t-shirts are
available for $15.

July 11 through 13:
Dawson County
Cheer Camp
What is it: The Dawson
County High School cheerleaders
will teach campers everything a
great cheerleader needs to know,
from cheers and chants to jumps
and stunts.
Who can attend: The camp is
open to campers age five through
12.
When and where is it: The
camp will take place at Rock
Creek Park from 9 to 11 a.m.
each day from July 11 through
13.
How much is it: The camp
costs $90 per camper. Register by
June 30 to guarantee your camper
will receive a free t-shirt.

cheer-camp
July 17 through 21:
Magic Camps
What is it: The magic camps
will offer children a chance to
learn how to perform magic.
Taught by Jeffrey Williams,
campers will learn how to make
objects appear and disappear, lev
itate objects, perform card, coin
and silk magic, read minds and
more. At the end of the week,
campers will have the chance to
perform in a special magic show
to show off their new skills to
their parents.
Who can attend: The begin
ners camp is open to campers age
seven through 12, and the
advanced camp is open to stu
dents age nine through 14 who
have taken the beginner magic
camp before or who already have
basic magic skills.
When and where is it: The
camp will take place at Rock
Creek Park. Each day from July
17 through 21, the beginner camp
will run from 9 a.m. to noon and
the advanced camp will run from
1 to 4 p.m.
How much is it: The camp
costs $150 per camper.

July 24 through 28:
Robotics Camp
What is it: The Vex Go robot
ics camp, entitled “Mission to
Mars”, will give campers the
chance to learn how to create a
launchpad and a spaceship, build
and code a robot rover and com
plete challenges inspired by the
Mars 2020 Mission. Campers
should bring a sack lunch, snack
and water.
Who can attend: The camp is
open to campers ages eight and
up.
When and where is it: The
camp will take place at Rock
Creek Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
each day from July 24 through
28.
How much is it: The camp
costs $300 for the first child, and
$250 per additional camper in the
same household. This fee
includes supplies, and campers
are asked to register online by
June 23.

In addition to the camps,
Dawson County Parks and Rec
will also offer several other fun
activities throughout the summer,
including “Party at the Pool”
events that are currently sched
uled for June 14 and July 12,
“Kona Ice Days” on Tuesdays
and Thursdays at Rock Creek
Park and “Ice Cream Days” on
Thursday afternoons at the
Veterans Memorial Park pool.
