The Wylde Center’s annual Beer
Garden Silent Auction and Fundraiser
is June 28 in the Oakhurst Garden, 435
Oakview Road, Decatur. The popular event
brings together local brews, food and music
for a casual evening outdoors. A VIP Happy
Hour begins at 4:30 p.m., while the main
event lasts from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets
are $35 in advance and $45 at the door. VIP
tickets are $75 and are available at www.

Garden is presented by Chip Wallace of Keller
21 years old.
EarthShare of Georgia held a successful Corporate Green Day Challenge to Mark
Earth Day in April. More than 400 volunteers from Accenture, Bank of America, Cox
Enterprises, Delta Air Lines, Hannah Solar, Interface, Kaiser Permanente, Mohawk
Group, NewFields and SCANA Energy participated in projects throughout Georgia.
Cox Enterprises won the Corporate Green Day Challenge Award for the team with the
greatest number of volunteers per capita, team spirit and project accomplishments. Also
picking up awards from EarthShare were Tomorrow Pictures (Outstanding Community
Partner), Chattahoochee Nature Center (Outstanding Member Organization); and
Interface (Outstanding Campaign Partner).
The City of Atlanta has adopted a comprehensive energy policy that aims to
significantly reduce citywide commercial energy use by establishing a framework for
energy performance monitoring and systems maintenance. Authored by the Mayor’s
Office of Sustainability, the ordinance aims to reduce the city’s energy footprint while
creating jobs. The City projects that the ordinance will drive a 20 percent reduction in
commercial energy consumption by the year 2030, spur the creation of more than 1,000
jobs a year in the first few years, and reduce carbon emissions by 50 percent from 2013
levels by 2030. DS
