Georgia Tech is planning a significant
expansion of its footprint in Midtown and on
the Westside, according to the Atlanta Business
Chronicle. There has been discussion about
expanding the 11-acre Technology Enterprise
Park into a $500 million mixed-use industry
focused hub that would sit on 60 acres on North
Avenue. A more ambitious version sees the
innovation district extending south beyond the
Georgia World Congress Center and including the
area immediately surrounding the new Atlanta
Falcons stadium. Georgia Tech also revealed new
renderings for its expansion of Technology Square
in Midtown. Tech and developer Portman Holdings
are asking for economic development incentives to
build up to a $360 million project that would include 620,000 square feet of office space,
100,000 square feet of data center space and 46,000 square feet of retail. The project also
includes the preserved facade of the historic Crum & Forster building on Spring Street.

Atlanta-based Kronberg Wall Architects earned top honors at the 14th annual
Charter Awards hosted by the Congress for New Urbanism (CNU) last month in Dallas,
Tex. The firm earned the grand prize for a rehabilitation project, Iberville Offsites, in
New Orleans. Iberville Offsites combines historic preservation with green retrofitting
through the restoration of 46 historic, vernacular dwellings using environmentally-
friendly technology and building practices.
Atlanta Habitat for Humanity’s board of directors has selected Lisa Y. Gordon as
chief executive officer and president. Her tenure at the affordable housing nonprofit will
begin on July 6. Gordon currently serves as vice president and chief operating officer for
Atlanta Beltline, Inc.
Atlanta-based global management consulting firm, North Highland, has acquired
ACME Business Consulting, a management consulting firm with a strong foothold in
Seattle, WA and Portland, OR.
Cartunes, which specializes in installing and customizing mobile accessories
such as audio, video and smart phone, has opened a new state-of-the-art location at
8601 Roswell Road, nearly doubling their old retail space from 9,000 to 14,000 square
feet. The new facility features a professionally designed and remodeled showroom, a
significantly larger work bay area, and new waiting room. They also added workspace
for a fabrication and woodworking shop dedicated specifically to car customization

Piedmont Healthcare has acquired The Sheffield Building, a 78,000-square-
foot medical office building at 1938 Peachtree St., in exchange for two medical office
buildings located at 4890 Roswell Road and 3020 Paces Mill Road, and an undisclosed
amount of cash. “We have looked at acquiring this building many times over the years.
It is a significant piece of property on the Piedmont Atlanta campus that Piedmont
Healthcare didn’t own,” says Kevin Brown, president and CEO of Piedmont Healthcare.
“We’re happy to have this piece in place.”
