FC Health Department to Offer
Back-to-School Immunization Clinic

The Fayette County
Health Department is offer
ing a back-to-school immu
nization and health
screening event for children
and teens from 8:15 a.m. to
4 p.m. on Wednesday, July
12.
Appointments are re
quired for the event. The
health department also
offers school immuniza
tions, screenings, and re
quired forms by
appointment Monday to Fri
day during normal business
hours. Call 800-847-4262 to
make an appointment.
Beverlyn Ming, the
health department’s county
nurse manager, encourages
parents to begin scheduling
appointments as soon as
possible to help ease the tra
ditional back-to-school rush
that occurs just before
school starts.
“We want to be able to
serve everyone who needs

and Portugal earlier this

The group sang for au
diences at church masses,
concerts, and other events
while visiting Malaga, Se
ville, Granada, Cordoba,
and Lisbon, and has
scheduled audition dates
for the next season.

“Trains and Boats and
Planes (and Cars!)” con
cert at The Ville Amphi
theater in Fayetteville on
us, and those who call near
the end of the summer may
find all our appointments
are full,” Ming said. “Not
only does it get incredibly
busy right before school
starts, but it also helps to get
your children’s shots early in
case they may need any fol
low-up vaccines after that.”
All Georgia students at
tending a nursery, childcare,
pre-k, Head Start program,
or public or private school
(kindergarten - 12th grade)
for the first time must sub
mit to their school a com
pleted Certificate of
Immunization (Form 3231)
showing they have received
the required immunizations
for their age. Children en
rolling in a public school for
the first time must also sub
mit Georgia Certificate of Vi
sion, Hearing, Dental, and
Nutrition Screening (Form
3300).

dents entering 11th grade
will need a meningitis
booster for school atten
dance along with an updated
Form 3231.
A parent or guardian
must accompany the child to
the health department. Fees
for immunizations and
screenings will vary. Pay
ments for health services or
birth certificates may be
made by cash, MasterCard,
or Visa. Medicaid covers vi
sion and hearing screenings
and immunizations, and
DPH accepts most insur
ance plans. For more infor

Brooks Women’s
Club, Town of Brooks to
Host Summer Concert
Series: The Town of Brooks
is locally known for its fresh
markets, but this year, the
town is hosting a summer
concert series filled with spe
cial performers. In its second
concert of the series, THE
PAPA JINX band will take the
stage and perform for free in
Brooks Thursday.
The “family-fun” concert
will be in Brooks Chapel, lo
cated in the middle of the
Town of Brooks behind the li
brary. A parking lot is located
across the street from the li
brary. The free performance
will be on July 13 at 7 p.m.
THE PAPA JINX band
has performed in settings
such as the Hollonville Opry
House and other local venues.
The group generally includes
guest artists that provide at
tendees with a stellar per
formance.
The concert series is spon
sored by the Brooks Women's
Club and the Town of Brooks.
PTC to Host ‘Sunset
Sounds’ Concert Series:
Between summer festivities
like First Fridays in Tyrone
and events held in downtown
Fayetteville, Peachtree City
has added its own concert
series: Sunset Sounds, with
monthly concerts through Au
gust.
The free summer concert
series returns in 2023 to
Drake Field with live music,
food, and fun for residents
and visitors to enjoy.
On the evenings of July 14
and Aug. 11, music begins at 7
p.m. with different live music
groups and artists to bring the
park to life.
On July 14, the “Rock the
90s” theme will roll through
Drake Field. Finally, on Aug.
11, Matt Pudas will round out
the summer concert series.

erately priced” concessions,
including hamburgers, hot
dogs, drinks, and ice cream.

ect, a warrior support
foundation helping veterans
reintegrate into civilian life.
“Expectations are high, so
we’re pretty motivated to
bring our ‘A’ game to the
court,” said Police Officer
Scott Israel, one of the event
organizers. “It’s all in good
fun, but you can imagine
we’re going to take the com
petition seriously. Most public
safety personnel are highly
competitive by nature.”
Spectators are encouraged
to bring camping chairs or
blankets for seating.

Golf Tournament: The
American Junior Golf Associ

Tournament Aug. 18-21 at

first year that the tournament
will be held in PTC. The event
is noted as one of the top open
events on the American Jun
ior Golf Association’s tourna
ment schedule. The 54-hole
tournament is preceded by

Southern Crescent Chorale
Holds Auditions for Next Season
GriefShare is a 13-week program sponsored by
Fayetteville First Baptist Church and designed to bring
comfort, support, and healing to those currently
grieving the loss of a loved one.
GriefShare consists of three interrelated components.
First is a weekly viewing of a video featuring
counselors and authors who have experienced grief
themselves.
Second is a discussion of the ideas and concepts
presented in the video.
Third is the completion of exercises in the GriefShare
workbook that help participants sort through their
emotions and aid the healing process.

FY 2024 BUDGET
The Mayor and Council of the City of Fayetteville
will hold a public hearing for the upcoming 2024
Fiscal Year Proposed Budget, which begins August
1, 2023 and ends July 31, 2024. Public hearings
will be held on July 6, 2023 and July 20, 2023 at
6:00 p.m. The first reading of the ordinance will be
held on July 6, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. with adoption of
the budget ordinance on July 20, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.
The meetings will be held in the Council Chambers
located at 210 Stonewall Avenue W. in Fayetteville.
