Local Historian to Speak
at Tyrone Museum
As a town rich in history
and advancements, Tyrone
has continually contributed
to the story of Fayette
County, and on July 16, Fay

rone Museum to discuss the
impact that early town res

Lynch will tell about the
cavalry raid and how it af

well as discussing relics dis

“War Between the States”
exhibit. Many of the relics
were found from skirmish
sites around Tyrone and
Fayette County.
Lynch’s family has lived
in Fayette County for more
than 175 years. “The Dor-
man-Mashbourne Letters:
With Brief Accounts of the
Tenth and Fifty-Third Geor
gia Regiments C.S.A.” and
“Scarlett’s Neighbors” are
books he authored about his
family ties to the area.
Additionally, Lynch
helped compile and write
“The History of Fayette
County, Georgia 1821-1971”
and “All Known Cemeteries
of Fayette County, Georgia.”
In 2017, Lynch received
the award for Local History
Advocacy from the Georgia
Historical Records Advisory
Council, and in 2019 was
named the Fayette County
Historian.
He is a charter member
of the Fayette County His
torical Society, General La
fayette McLaws Camp of the

erans, and the General Mar
