DOLE, France, (NC) — The Vatican’s lost-and-found depart ment never functioned more efficiently or with greater cour tesy. Father Philippe Roncon, a young priest attached to the Basilica of Our Lady here, lost his sweater in Rome while at tending the coronation of His Holiness Pope John XXIII with Bishop Claude Flusin of Saint- Claude. He had taken off the sweater during a ceremony in the Sis- tine chapel, and forgot it there. The sweater was marked with a tag bearing his name. Father Roncon recently re ceived this note from the Vati can: “Dear son, I will return to you by the next mail the sweater you forgot in the Sistine chapel during the ceremonies of the coronation. Pope Expresses Sorrow VATICAN CITY, (Radio, NC) —His Holiness Pope John XXIII has sent a message to Arch bishop Albert G. Meyer of Chi cago expressing his sorrow at the tragic deaths, of children and teachers in the fire at Our Lady of the Angels school there. The message was signed per sonally by the Pope instead of Msgr. Domenico Tardini, Vati can Secretary of State. The message said: “We were deeply grieved by the news of the disaster sustain ed by the school of Our Lady of the Angels. With all Our heart We express Our deeply felt con dolences to the parents, families and relatives so cruelly strick en, and We impart to them Our apostolic blessing in pledge of abundant heavenly consolations in their grief.” Joseph H. Sherort Services In Augusta AUGLTSTA — Funeral serv ices for Joseph H. Sheron were held December 1st at St. Mary’s- on-the-Hill Church, Rev. Daniel J. Bourke officiating. A veteran of 30 years em ployment with the Chronicle, Mr. Sheron was considered one of the best advertising solicitors in the area. He was quiet and unassuming, and well liked by his business contacts. Survivors-are his widow, Mrs. Catherine W. Sheron; a daugh ter, Mrs. J. Noel Schweers Sr. of Augusta; three grandchildren, J. Noel Schweers Jr. of Augusta, William Sheron Schweers of Pittsburg, Pa., and Mrs. T. O. McNeil of Thompson; also five great-grandchildren. SERVICES FOR R. I. GAVIN, SR. SAVANNAH — Funeral serv ices for Richard John Gavin Sr. were held December 3rd at the Sacred Heart Church. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Gavin; four sons, John Richard Gavin Jr. and Gerald P.
