Fourteen Young Men Begin Studies At Saint John's Minor Seminary

When afternoon classes adjourn, students quickly take the field for sports activities.

SEMINARY
PAY
A typical day at the Seminary
begins with rising at 6:45 A, M.
After morning Prayers and visit
to the Blessed Sacrament, the
students breakfast at 7:40 and
begin classes at 8:45 after a
thirty minute study hall. Three
hours of morning classes end at
11:45 with the public recitation
of the Rosary and Seminarians
have an opportunity to go to
Confession before the daily Mass
which begins at 12:00 Noon.
After lunch and recess at 12:45
classes resume at 1:15 and con
tinue until 3:15 when recreation
begins. There is a twenty minute
Meditation period, after which
the day-students will be dis
missed.
Boarding students have sup
per at 5:15, Recreation at 6:30,
Study hall from 7:00 to 8:00 P.
M. The activities of the day
come to a close with Spiritual
Reading at 9:30 P. M. The Grand
Silence begins at 10.00 P. M. and
the students retire at 10.15.
The fourteen seminarians who
began their preparatory studies
for the Savannah Diocesan
Priesthood at St. John’s on
Sept. 10th, are Ernest Knesel of
Nativity of Our Lord Parish,
Thunderbolt; Richard Jurgen-
son, Alyn M. Wassil, Mark J.
Regan, Andrew Klimack, and
Richard McAloon, all of St.
James, Isle of Hope; James T.
Cassidy, Thomas Cook, George
T. Powell III, and Minden Nick-
laus, all of St. Joseph’s Macon,
Eugene Mahon, Sacred Heart
Parish, Augusta; Craig Spinks,
St. Mary’s-on-the-Hill, Augusta;
Gary Lotti, Sacred Heart War
ner Robins; and Joseph L. Rau,
Jr., St. Teresa’s, Albany.
