SAVANNAH BULLETIN
OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER OF THE DIOCESE OF SAVANNAH
1. Today's Catholic newspaper performs an indispensible service in bringing into Catholic homes the pre
cious words of the Holy Father, the guidance of our Bishops, and a wide range of instruction on matters of faith
and morals.
2. Outside the Church, truth, intellectual and moral, is relative. That is to say, there is no truth. This colos-
sal error is being dinned into the Catholic mind by all modern communications media. A bulwark against this
threat to the individual Catholic's Faith is the devotion of the Catholic newspaper to absolute moral and in
tellectual values. "GET THE WHOLE TRUTH . . . READ THE SAVANNAH BULLETIN."
3. Catholic news is not adequately covered by the secular press. Much of it is not mentioned at all; insignif
icant news is inflated. Yet, current Catholic news is a necessary part of the truth every Catholic should know. It
is supplied by the Catholic press, one of the chief functions of which is to k e e p Catholics abreast of Catholic
events, locally, nationally and internationally. "GET THE WHOLE TRUTH . . . READ THE SAVANNAH BUL
LETIN."
4. A Vatican letter to last year's World Congress of the Catholic Press hit at those journalists "who accom
pany information with tendentious commentaries and malevolent suppositions." This sort of thing is done fre-
quently by the non-Cctholic press —- particularly with respect to Catholic history, dogma and morality. In othet *
words, a proper interpretation of news is a necessary part of the truth that every Catholic should know. It is sup
plied by the Catholic newspaper and in their editorial columns, feature articles and commentaries. "GET THE
WHOLE TRUTH . . . READ THE SAVANNAH BULLETIN."
